coil or catalytic problem??
Recent issue: engine starts missing a bit, check engine light comes on..check of the codes produces P0430....clear the code, run the truck for a few days, no problem..... crank it up one morning, experience another slight engine miss as it warms up, light comes on, same code issue. In no case have I received a code relative to a coil, injector or other ignition component. Any thoughts regarding how to achieve a believable diagnosis? Thanks.
This is just a guess, so take it for what it's worth:The only way the system can know if the cat converters are not working properly is by signals coming from the second HGO sensors, the ones behind the cat converters. If that is the case, then one or both of the sensors is going off or the converters are on the fritz.

Oh, gimme back my old 6.2 Chevy diesel. The only electronic stuff: Glowplug controller, glowplugs and moisture-in-fuel detector.

Any luck yet? I have been running with the same error code for quite a while and stil have no clue what it is, nor do i feel like throwing a bunch of money away changing everything that could cause that code

You know ford has a 8 year / 80k mile emission warranty. If you're getting a P0420 or a P0430 they'll replace your cat(s). I'm actually getting a P0420 and they're replacing mine tomorrow. $1267 for the cat
