Payload is payload. I love my 500A package... bummer than for 19 you can only get a 301A. That’s a game changer for a guy like me who wanted leather, fancy climate control, 4A but none of the fancy driving aids that will break in the future.
Give me a shout when its for sale! Same to the rest of hdpp 500a center consoles! lol

Lots of great info in here glad this thread was brought back up, I'm still considering saying F the sticker and do aftermarket parts especially if 19's are .11 frames

bench here. My last truck was center console... the bench is so much better! The storage compartment is just the right size, the cell phone slot is perfect, and the console arm rest is more comfortable. I also find the seat to be slightly narrower because the middle seat is wider than the console option, which is much more comfortable to me. Plus, the option for 6th seat is great. My kids LOVE rocking the front bench when we drive around the campground.

Funny the console is a favourite thing on my Truck. It comes standard on the Canadian build 500a Lariat. Good job there is a choice!

@ Mike:

Maybe it's a Canada thing, but the Window Sticker shows

"Total Before Discounts" as $53,230.
Then it shows discounts that total $5,000.
Then it shows the Total MSRP as $50,730.

That math does not seem to add up. Should it have been $48,230?

Thanks, I'm a new guy at this truck fun!

Nope. Destination is listed ABOVE the "Total before discounts".

Probably ADP, which dealers often leave off the list. That's Additional Dealer Profit, and some dealerships used to list the acronym right on the window stickers.

No, willful negligence is something I steer clear of. My intent is to introduce the possibility that "time and money" are better spent on aftermarket improvements than on an HDPP package, maybe by as much as a factor of 10. If I load my truck to 2,700 lbs--which I can't imagine I'll ever do, despite the fact that I have around 500 lbs sitting in my bed permanently--I won't be exceeding the truck's physical capacity, but I will be exceeding its rated capacity. And if I get absolutely slammed with a violation due to having an overweight vehicle (doubtful), I'll still have thousands of dollars in my pocket that didn't go to an HDPP package that would have forced me to get a truck in a configuration I don't want.

Said another way, again: The HDPP wasn't made for people that want a high-payload half-ton truck; it was made so that Ford can say they sell the highest-payload half-ton truck ever made.

I would have to see some munbers to support your theory that instead of buying a HDPP/MTTP truck, money would be better spent upgrading a regular F150. I think I would have to call BS on this one ( especially the 10 factor thing). The lack of model choice is an issue (I have a 2018 500a Lariat) but the HDPP is actually a VERY good value, (especially if you going for a MTTP package and LT tires and wheels anyway). I did months of research before ordering mine so I do know what I am talking about. In fact I recently had this discussion with my Dealers Service manager. He can't figure out why more buyers wanting increased capacity do not get an HDPP instead of spending thousands on air bags, shocks, springs etc. (This dealer stocks HDPPs)

As has probably been noted no matter what you do to your truck to increase capacity you can not change the GVWR on the factory sticker. So if you are over capacity and have a problem, you are over capacity!

+1 totally agree. There is no way it's more cost efficient to add all the extras after market when the HDPP option is less than $1000. I did tons of research too and ended up with a HDPP. And by a factor of 10??? Buddy would have to show me where he can get all the upgrades for $90 - not gonna happen!

Only reason I didn’t get HDPP is it’s not available for SCrew with 5.5-ft bed.
