Waze issues?
Waze was always pretty reliable... since I have updated and started using it on CarPlay with Sync 3, Waze seems to always have trouble connecting to server when starting a route. Everything else on my phone is fine. In fact, today, I could not get Waze to load (even unplugging and using it without CarPlay), so I went to Google maps and within a few minutes turned onto a toll road and was told I had a 30 minute delay due to an accident... I could have easily taken a different toll road that runs parallel but was a few more miles down the road. Not sure why google maps did not tell me about the difference, but I am pretty sure Waze would have... if it would have loaded. Then, after about 20 tried, it loaded the routing... even when the routing loads I have times where the app just goes away. Car screen goes back to main carplay screen... and phone goes to home screen. This happens often also.
I am curious is anyone else is seeing this... or if it is just me... I would uninstall and reinstall Waze, but I don't want to lose the years of addresses in my history...

I think when I was playing with mine I noticed that but I was on wifi mode. So next time trying turning wifi off to see if that is an issue. For me I have Comcast and that causes issues thinking it has a reliable wifi connection and when things are goofy generally that is where the problem is. Hopefully that is what is going on for you
That actually doesn't explain it because I am not having the same issue. I was having the trouble connecting to server issue BEFORE the update for a few days but it seemed to have resolved itself. It's a Waze software issue, not an iPhone issue.

I have always had intermittent connection problems with Waze. I’ve assumed that despite being owned by google their compute power is just under provisioned for their peak loads. “Cannot connect to routing server” is a familiar problem.
That said I’ve had a couple really severe episodes recently, where like you I had to drop back to GMaps or Apple Maps because Waze totally refused to route. But disconnecting from CarPlay didn’t help either so...

Guess I've just been lucky then. Never had these issues with my LG G6 or V30.
