No software update is going to fix that issue. It's a network communication problem and the gateway could be to blame. The IPC and APIM simply don't communicate illumination settings until the driver presses an instrument cluster dim button. Updating the firmware on the IPC, OBD and APIM might solve it but I'm unaware if any such fix exists.

I wonder if this is why some but not all F150 owners who update to Sync 3.4 and skip the firmware flash lose the Sirius channel logos.

Sounds like a possibility. Mine still haven't repopulated. I have a 19 F250. Is there a way to tell what ACM I have? Without tearing apart the dash.

Also, can I use ForScan to flash the firmware?

If you have a J2354 (MDI) scanner and a test version of Forscan.

It's totally fixed for me with 3.4, though I also updated the APIM firmware, I believe it was strictly a software bug because it didn't exist in v2.3 and only cropped up in v.3.0. Both the IPC and APIM get the ambient light from the BCM to which the ambient light sensor is connected to. On vehicle startup the BCM sends a message across the bus with ambient light status. I think the APIM bootup routine of v3.0 was flawed and it would miss the initial ambient light status sent across the bus, but pressing the dash button causes another message to be sent with the ambient light and the IPC brightness that the now fully booted up APIM acts on. This is why when people would wait till their interior lights went out before starting it would dim properly. Had nothing to do with the interior lights, it was really just waiting till the APIM was fully booted and able to receive the bus message.

Do you have a CD player? The new ACMs don't have a CD player. The thing is, as a 2019, your truck should already have those address blocks, and the correct values. What do you have in 08 and 09? Also, have you tried sending a refresh signal to the radio from the SiriusXM website?

I do not have a cd player. I will hook up ForScan in the morning and check it.

I have sent multiple refresh signals and it does nothing. I would think it show something when the signal is received but nothing.

I still think it's terrible and way too long. To me it looks like Ford is trying to say "Sh-!-t rolls down hill and that's what we made it from", which in some sense is exactly how I perceive the Bronco; just a bunch of leftover parts from other models glued together LOL.
