Have your dealer run a Vehicle Visibility report. It will show all of the steps of the process, including the current location. The rail car number will be listed in the "Secondary" column. Follow the instructions below to track the location of the rail car.
Call Touch Trace(1-800-235-2352) and then pick option 1 for railcar information, then follow the prompts, It’ll ask you to speak the railcar initials (letters only) or enter them on the keypad and then the numbers. Next say “done”, and the system will look-up and report the latest location information it has for the railcar.
If a live person picks up, hang up(you are not authorized to use it). your key pad letters are entered like this 3-2, 7-4, 7-4, 9-2 for ESSX E-is the second letter, so it has a 2 after it, S is the 4th letter on the number keypad, and X is the 2nd letter on 9 You will need to enter the carrier first.
Here are terms you might hear!
Departure - Railcar has departed the city listed enroute to next big city along the way.
Arrive In Transit - railcar has arrived city listed

Bad Order Release - railcar has been repaired and is ready to move again

Placed Construct - railcar has arrived its final desination but there is not room to unload it yet (will move to placed actual when the room is available)
Storage - railcar has been emptied and is now being moved to storage

I have been following my truck on the rail car since Monday when I got the rail car number from my salesman. It took two days to get around Chicago, but the trip from the BNSF rail yard in Cicero Illinois just West of Chicago to to the BNSF rail yard in St. Paul Minnesota was done all in one day, crossing in to Minnesota around 11:00 pm last night. A call this afternoon confirmed that the rail car had reached it's destination was unloaded and released by the customer (FORD) I have also been keeping fellow Minnesotan DC4MVP up to date on the progress this week as our vin numbers are only one number apart. It was fun following the trains progress on Google Earth and trying to guess possible train routes along the way. A fun week! A big THANK YOU CountrySquire for posting the how to do instructions. T.P.
Ditto on the Thank You! Country Squire. I too enjoyed being able to follow my vehicle down to Florida from Detroit! Instructions were perfect.
It also helped avoid bugging the dealer unneeded until the vehicle arrived. Then, when notified, the dealer kept tabs with the transporter and expedited having it ready for us to pickup.
