How's the KIT1787 working out for you? I saw some people were having trouble with with fit of the 1521 on the '09-'14. Hoping Thule got it right this time around.

How is the Thule rack to install on the roof? I need to come up with a solution to carry snow skis and water skis (including 90" jumpers). I am not sure if i am better off with a diamondback cover and mounting the ski carrier to the bed or using a thule and going on the roof.

Bak MX4 with Vantech P3000 rail system
I finished up my Vantech P3000 rack installation to fit on with my bak MX4 this weekend. With the 6.5ft bed it was easier to carry a tandem than the single kayak. We have two modular single/tandem Point65N kayaks for our family of 4.
I bought the MX4 from Partsengine during their tonneau sale and installed it a few weeks ago. That is working great. The MX4 flips up against the rack now and I made a couple of replacement prop rods (5/16 steel rod and 5mmx1 threads to fit the stock ball joint) to hold it up at that angle.
We can how carry the two tandem kayaks on top and 4 bikes+camping equipment in the bed.
The Vantech came with 4 x 48" channels that you are supposed to bolt into the box, but I bolted them to some 2"x 3/16" aluminum bar and then mounted that to some modified bullring 4025 stake pocket mounts that I inserted nuts into and allow for bolts to thread in. Two bolts secure the front of the rail and two at the back.
The rail was still a bit "lifty" in the middle, so I found the mid pocket location in the bed rail (only plastic covered) and put a bolt through it to a brace spanning to the metal part on either side of the pocket. The rails are very stable this way.
Pretty happy with the whole setup and can actually get the rack into the garage with the kayak mounts removed. the only permanent change to the truck is a 1/4" hole through the top plastic of the bedrail about 2.5 feet from the end. A plastic cap can fit in there if I ever remove the rack rails.

Hey tcp2
Rack looks great. Question: are you able to flip up the BakFlip with the rear rack in place? It looks like the angle of the upright bars would interfere?

We recently purchased a 2016 XLT Super Crew Sport model. We have thought hard about the type of tonneau cover we want/need and have narrowed it down to the BAKFlip MX4 or Revolver X2. So, the issue is, not only do we want/need to be able to transport stuff in the bed of the truck securely (hence the choice of tonneau), we also want to be able to carry some kayaks with us too. Does anyone have any recommendations for racking options for the kayaks that will also work with the tonneau cover engaged? Most rack options for the bed (would prefer to stay away from the roof unless I have to) seem to require bracketing which would interfere with the tonneau frame. Thanks in advance for your comments.
