Driving down the highway, look in the mirror and right tail light is flying around like a kite! The front 2 pins or whatever they were are broken off as well as where the 2 screws go near the tailgate. I’m guessing the front tabs broke at some point and it worked itself out and got blown around and broke the inside bosses off. Just my luck. BTW the other tail light seems solid.🤷‍♂️

Anyone replace a bulb lately ?? If yes, perhaps they broke the tabs upon removal or install.

On the other hand, kudos to the wire harness and installer for withstanding that event!

No bulb replacement. Never been removed. BTW I just pulled the drivers side to check and the top pin is broke on that one.

Absolutely! Shout out to the bulb manufacturer also. They were bouncing off the truck and pavement and all are still functioning!

There are some things that could've contributed to that. I've never seen that happen on its own unless a taillight has been removed at some point.
Here's a few things that come to mind - Tail gate dampener install. Linex or rhino-lining install. bed cover install. the aforementioned bulb replacement. Trailer hitch/harness install. Bed rack install (stake pocket access).

No on all the above. Nobody’s ever touched them. I’ve got a tail gate dampener and a tonneau cover that I installed myself and didn’t have to remove tail lights.

It is a thing. Just happened to me too. Mine didn't get as bad as yours where it fell out. I noticed the font face flapping in the wind through the mirror. All pins were cracked. Not sure what happened with mine. No marks to indicate it was hit. Maybe snagged at the carwash?

On the upside, it looks like your lamp is traditional bulb, which should not be as expensive to replace. I have the LED variant with bliss. Replacement is around 1k.

I didn't want to spend the money, so I tried rebuilding. I still had all the pins. Seems solid 2 months in, but if it breaks, I'll need to buy a replacement.

I reinforced the cracked screw threads with a rigid wire and superglue. Then put JB PlasticWeld over everything. See attached pictures.

If I were to do that again, I would recommend sanding and painting black the repair. It is visible when the light is installed. I'm not sure if my rebuild will last if I pull it out to paint.

Yeah I’m lucky Ive got the cheapos lol $63 on Amazon and I superglued the driver’s side. It’s definitely something I’m going to have to keep an eye on.
