Default Techron?

Anybody using this additive?I'm hovering around 30k on my 2016 2.7 and due for an oil change change. Thought I'd add some to clean everything out. My other question is since I have the larger tank would I need the 20oz and a 12oz bottle to treat the whole tank?

Larger bottle for the big tanks or two small ones. That stuff doesnt really help that much. There isnt gonna be much build up in a 30k miles. Once its closer to 150k miles its helps some. If it makes you feel better, do it. Not gonna hurt anything. And you cant really put too much of that in your truck. It will burn it no matter what just fine. Now 10 bottles would give a engine light until it cleared out but still not hurt anything.

I have done a lot of reading over the years on Techron, it's not going to fix an existing problem but with regular use with low-grade gas it does help keep injectors and valves clean. There are a bunch of other detergent additives that work well too. If you are using tier one gas you don't need it.

I have had better results with Seafoam. Usually add a can every 3 tanks. I purchased a very low mileage Harley recently, had been sitting for several years. It would barely stay running once started, tried Techron in some fresh gas, not much better. Drained the tank, frahs gas, and added a can of Seafoam as one last try before I took out the top end and injection system. Smoked like a chimney for 10 minutes, then ran smooth as butter. Really sold on this stuff.

Seafoam is a double-edged sword, it helps clean out varnish but can cause other problems. I would steer clear of it in a modern engine. I do use it in my boat and on occasion my motorcycle because they both sit a lot.

I use it in my snowblower, lawnmower and motorcycle, great stuff. Probably will steer clear with the eco though.

Run top tier fuel all the time and you'll keep the stuff it comes in contact with cleaner. It won't do anything for the intake tract or the back side of the valves because they won't ever see it. I pass a Shell station on both ends of my work commute so I run their 87 octane.
