Tailgate step and box side steps
I hope to be doing an order for a 2020 F-150 SuperCrew Lariat 4x4 soon.
What are your opinions on the "Tailgate Step with Tailgate Lift Assist"? ($375 option)
and
the "Box Side Steps"? ($325 option) Do these come just on the drivers side or on both sides?
I know AMP makes both to fit the F-150, just wondering if the factory steps are worth the money. I'm 61 years young and it harder every year to get in and out of the truck bed!

I've never used the side steps so know nothing about them but the tailgate step is worth every penny and is a great addition to the truck and makes getting in and out of the back VERY easy. Had the step on my last 3 trucks and would never buy a truck without it.
Tail gate lift assist is also great.

Rarely use the side steps, except for cleaning the back window.
The tail gate step gets used a bunch. This is the 3rd truck with the step, and it's a mandatory option for me.

Tailgate step is a must have for me. I've never had the side steps, but I've ordered my last few trucks with the tailgate step.

I have the side steps on both of our trucks. I would think the side box steps would be helpful if you have a across the bed tool box.
I have however used them to reach something in the bed. (I am vertically challenged).
When we ordered the 2017 we ordered them on the truck. They were $325 which was for BOTH sides.

I have a 2017 F150 Lariat 4X4 SuperCrew short box. I'm 71 and love the tailgate step (not familiar with the tailgate "lift assist"). Also have the box side steps and also love them. The only problem I have run into with the box side steps is gravel roads. I occasionally have to travel on gravel and have found that gravel rocks can get into and lodge in the extension mechanism preventing the step from extending. If you drive gravel and power wash your vehicle, make sure you consistently extend the steps and power wash them to remove any gravel rocks that can/will lodge in the mechanism. If you hand wash, you'll need to extend them and manually hand clean them out to make sure they run smoothly and will re-lock.

I went with the Amp Research bedstep, just in the back, not on the side. The advantage is, I can use it with the tailgate up or down, and with my TT attached. Whichever one you decide on, they are definitely worth it!

Get the tail gate step, a no brainer IMO.

I came from 14 years in a 2002 Avalanche with the corner bumper steps, which I used all of the time. The truck I bought off the lot had the tailgate step; it's not something I was actively seeking. I don't use it unless I know I am getting in and out of the bed multiple times, and then I appreciate it. If I need to access the bed from the side I just step on top of the tire.
I like the tailgate step but think the GM corner bumper steps are a more practical option, with no moving parts.
