[QUOTE=LWoodard;6261556]I hope to be doing an order for a 2020 F-150 SuperCrew Lariat 4x4 soon.
What are your opinions on the "Tailgate Step with Tailgate Lift Assist"? ($375 option)
and

I have both. Tailgate step is awesome. The side steps are handy if you want to get something out of the front of the bed, or in my case, off the roof of the bed cap. If I had to choose one or the other, I’d go with the tailgate step all the way. I don’t know what the side steps weigh, but I doubt they’re light, and as little as they get used, probably not worth the hit to mpg

No brainer at all. The tailgate step to easily climb up and into the bed is well worth the $375.

I’m a UPS driver and do 18 to 20 thousand steps a day and I’m 62, and I would never get a truck without the tailgate step! Walking ain’t the same as climbing!

I ordered both when I bought my 2016 Lariat.
I use them both and am very satisfied with my choices.
The side steps are expensive if you think you may want to add them later. Get them when you order and save half.
Good luck with your decision and your purchase.

Years and years and years ago we had a helper who wore a fairly large cowboy belt buckle, he reached over the boss's truck bed rail and scratched the hell out of the side of the bed. Not good!. I've remembered that and have tried to always access the bed via the tailgate. I agree with mostly everyone, the tailgate step is a great feature and for most, well worth the cost.

I use the box side steps at least once or more a week. I keep a cooler mounted in the bed that I use mainly for trips to the grocery store. I place milk, meat anything that needs to keep cool along with ice packs in it. So the steps on the side are valuable to me.
They are also very handy for trips to the recycle bin to move cardboard etc. to the rear for easy access there. When I need to strap things down the side steps come in handy again accessing the lower tie downs etc.

The tailgate step should be included and not an option. I don’t care how old you are it sure does make accessing the bed really easy when you need to get in and out of it.

Another fan of the tailgate step. I wasn't that interested in it, but my truck had it. After the first time I used it, I was sold. Makes life so much easier, and is well worth the cost. Haven't used side steps, but do not feel I would need them that often, as I normally access the bed from the tailgate. I think the assist would be a great add on as well.

I use the tailgate step a lot. The side steps were demonstrated to me on the dealer lot and the salesman couldn't get them unstuck from the up position on a 6.5' bed truck. I can stand on the running boards on my 5.5' bed truck so I didn't get those.
