Default Tailgate release button on dash?

Why didn't Ford give me a tailgate release button on the dash!!

I would love to be able to back my truck up to something to unload or load something and as I am getting out of the truck just hit a button on the door or dash to drop the tailgate. That way by the time I get to the back of the truck its already down and ready to unload.
I keep my keys in my pocket so reaching in there to press the tailgate button is more difficult than just manually dropping the tailgate.

Has anyone done a mod to add this?

Because they don't want people dropping the tailgate without looking to see what it might hit.

That's what I use to drop it. I wouldn't want to hit a button accidently on the dash and drip the tailgate into my garage door or worse my trailer jack. If I use the key, I have to purposely do something.

Seems quite obvious, yes.

I get where you're coming from but I think you can just as easily accidentally hit the key button as you could a dash button. You still have to purposely hit the dash button just as the key.

Idk about you but I don't ever "accidentally" hit my 4wd or my trailer backup assist or my headlights or any of the buttons on my dash.

They could also program it to be disabled when a trailer is attached.

I have hit a button once or twice by accident (spotlights for example) but its not like I flop around like a fish out of water hitting all kinds of stuff regularly . The key you have to kit twice which seems to prevent more accidents (I do put my key in the console and not my pocket just in case when trailer is connected) and you are usually getting out of the truck if you need something in the tailgate. Would I use it if I had it - maybe. Is it necessary - in my opinion no. Are there other things I would prefer to have if given the choice - definitely. I am sure you could wire something up if you need it. It is really just an actuator that 'pops' the latch open - I don't think there is a lock on the electric tailgate, it just disables the switch.

Reading my reply again, I guess I don't really want to 'drip' my tailgate in any circumstance??? Lol

Cheers

**** it, I'll just duct tape my spare key to my dash and I'll have my button.

There's a camera on the tailgate. Ford could easily tie the release button to the camera so you can see if it will hit something before you release/drop it. Easy peasy.
