You unzipped the file on the computer and then moved all the unpacked files to the usb drive right? YES

If you have two USB ports in the truck did you try both 1 and 2. ONLY 1 PORT

And if you have another thumb drive try that. DID THAT

I cannot access the same prompts that Ford has on their instructions.

Hi Richierich65,

Try the following method to start the update:

1. Press the Phone Button. You will either see PHONE MENU then PHONE REDIAL or CONNECTING.
1a. If you see CONNECTING, scroll to RETURN and press OK.
1b. If you see PHONE MENU then PHONE REDIAL, scroll to SYSTEM SETTINGS and press OK.
2. Scroll to SYSTEM SETTINGS and press OK.
3. Scroll to ADVANCED and press OK.
4. Scroll to INSTALL APP and press OK.

Try this and let me know if it works.

Well, after try after try, I took the thumbdrive to my work and downloaded the files there. Went out at lunch and started downloading immediately. It took about 25 minutes total, at times I wasn't sure if it was still downloading or not. Finally display showed "installation complete". Then I had issues getting the Ford sight to recognize that update was completed. I just kept trying and finally it took.
Overall, this is a PITA; no download progress bar, and no good info on how to initialize upload into Sync. Ford needs to learn user friendly way if they are going to put computers in their vehicles. The instructions are way too generic, and should have instructions for VIN specific. None of the instructions I found showed exactly how to perform the upload to the vehicle.
But, it's finally complete.....

It was a PITA like you said. It took forever for the website to accept the .xml file and when it did it took forever for the website to recognize it.
