Unfortunately for some reason i am not able to send u a PM but can u help me with the BGMAP_ERR01 Error ? Bought me a 2016 Lariat and bought the map update from Ford i do have now this error that wont go away ?

Well, I'm in the same boat. I inadvertently turned off the engine during the second half of the update...
Would sure appreciate any assistance with correcting BGMAP_ERR01.Thank you!

Okay since nobody really can help me and i don't know when Acool sees that i decided to upgrade my Sync 3.0 to the 3.4 this fixed the map error ! I also do have the new 3.4 design from the 20-21 models looks better and feels more responsive than the 3.0 version. Definitely worth doing it.

Where did you obtain the 3.4 version, if you don't mind telling us.

Very easy and simple i think it cant get easier than this just download put on a USB and go to your car and install it took me about 30min turned on the car stayed in it and waited until it was done.

As i said both of them are very simple ways nothing easier than that.
I recommend going to 3.4 it looks way better its more a design update than functions. It runs way smoother and i am sure they fixed a bunch of bugs to from the older versions that we are not aware of.
Of course with this kind of things you can every time brick your Sync system so do that on your own risk. (i did not really care due to a new one being only a couple hundred bucks)
Make sure you have at least a USB with 32Gb if you have the Navigation and it is formatted to EXFat.
Again i do not regret it fixed my map error and updated it to the newest version plus maps that are out there for all the newer Ford's.

Hi! I also have the bgmap_err01 due to interrupting the map upgrade process. I'm not sure I'm ready to tackle the 3.4 update just now, and I'm not able to PM Acool to request the map data clear tool. Can he (or someone else) send me the information to download the tool to clear my old map data so I can try this again?
