Sync 3 Technical Discussion
I apologize for having to ask in this thread. I'm looking for a download link for sync3 v2.3 with Nav. I've been doing some testing trying out different versions. I have just about every version except 2.3Nav. I figured if anyone has it one of you guys must. If someone could steer me in the right direction I'd much appreciate it.
Thanks
Thanks
I'll give a try to explain this.
Download the update to a USB. Edit the Auto install file and insert in truck.
The first pass that was referred to is done with the Auto install file edited to read like this:
[SYNCGen3.0_3.0.18025_PRODUCT]
Item1 = HB5T-14G386-THA
Open1 = SyncMyRideHB5T-14G386-THA.tar.gz
Item2 = HB5T-14G386-TBB
Open2 = SyncMyRideHB5T-14G386-TBB.tar.gz
Item3 = GB5T-14G386-SC
Open3 = SyncMyRideGB5T-14G386-SC.tar.gz
Item4 = JR3T-14G381-AL
Open4 = SyncMyRideJR3T-14G381-AL.tar.gz
Options = AutoInstall
[SYNCGen3.0_ALL]
Item1 = JR3T-14G423-BA
Open1 = SyncMyRideJR3T-14G423-BA.tar.gz
Item2 = GB5T-14G386-AA
Open2 = SyncMyRideGB5T-14G386-AA.tar.gz
Options = Delay,Include,Transaction
After this finishes, the truck is shutoff, doors opened & closed so the system re-boots. And USB drive is removed. Go back to your laptop/desktop - plug the USB in it & change the Auto install to this:
[SYNCGen3.0_ALL]
Item1 = GB5T-14G386-SC
Open1 = SyncMyRide\GB5T-14G386-SC.tar.gz
Item2 = JR3T-14G391-BD
Open2 = SyncMyRide\JR3T-14G391-BD.tar.gz
Options = AutoInstall,Delay,Include
Go back to your truck & let the update run again.
You don't need to remove any of the files themselves, the Auto Install script only calls(installs) the files listed - any others on the USB are ignored.
Hope this helps
As far as your question above - you can consider that as the first pass.

So at this point "Shortly after installation has begun, SYNC may quickly display “Installation Complete.” " i would remove the usb and change rhe autolist to this and put the usb back in the trucks usb slot?

LET ME CLARIFY - I'm not promoting this method, I was merely restating Burritomans's post that some people were having trouble following. See post here;
https://www.f150forum.com/f118/sync-...0/#post5795917
What Burritoman did in part 2 was remove gracenotes to make room, & then install the Voice file. This leaves you without gracenotes. If you're OK with that - this method may work for you. You may be able to re-add gracenotes later - I can't say because I haven't tried this method.
ACOOL has posted what seems to be a proven way to do this update if you run into the memory error, I suggest you use that..

No- let the first pass run until completed, maybe 30 minutes or so. Then make sure you shut off truck, open & close door, and let everything power down for a minute or so before starting over with part 2..

Your vehicle must remain on during the update installation..blah blah
What is going on with my sync...?
Your sync is doing what it's supposed to do. I realize people are trying to be helpful, but there's a lot of misinformation and muddying of the waters. Ignore everything else. Go to my original post. Click the red link and get the file in that post.
Step 1: Unpack that file to a usb and install it.
Step 2: Reboot.
Step 3: Install an original OEM Ford update via USB as you would normally.

2. what do you mean by "Reboot", the truck?
3. Install the zip i download from Fords website?
unzip to usb, plug usb in truck
In my original post I say: "Reboot probably includes turn ignition off, open door, let sleep, turn ignition on. Button reset sequence will be for sure a reboot. Master reset isn't necessary. I did it on the bench so for me reboot means cut power off then on." Btw the button sequence IIRC is holding POWER and SEEK FORWARD until it reboots. No need to leave truck off for 5+ minutes as some think is necessary.
Yes
