Partial success! Did the upload in 2 parts... removed 14G391 from the first pass and updated successfully to 2.3. Tried 14G391 on second pass and got the MEM_ERR03 error... What's interesting is that GN serial number showed up after the first pass.
It just means you have your previous version of GN still there. Gracenotes is somewhat unrelated to the actual sync software other than they release them together in a package. The question is do you care about GN? If not, then be done with it
Voice works fine and meh on Gracenote. Don't really care too much but frustrated that I can't load it...
And I just realized you said 391 didn't install. That's voice. So your GN did install, but your voice didn't. Voice is the larger package. You can run bezel diag and look at ivsu versions to know what's installed.
Then after that I *believe* you can reinstall GN without issue as you did previously (GN is the smaller image and shouldn't run into MEM_ERR03).
If this works we can post it in the OP as the fix for all. You should screenshot your IVSU versions so you know everything installed correctly ...
I can restore any module via hardware, so worst case if it bothers you enough you could be without it for a few days and send it to me.
Thanks Acool, appreciate the offer. I tested voice and it works fine so not sure what happened... guessing it's the previous version but as long as it works, I'm good with it.
I had no idea this thread existed until now. I'm trying to install NA Nav update file 1.16 and running into a lot of troubles, but learning along the way. My programming knowledge is very limited but I do have useful resources you guys might be interested in.
First thing I should mention is I made a copy of almost everything that was on the Mustang Sync 3 forums before they were taken down. Every file that was posted there I made a copy of and I have some screen shots of important posts I saw at that time. I know how to access Sync 3's root directly using PuTTY. I also have the entire directory tree for sync 3 and partition lists in an xml file.
Things like this:
Unfortunately though, none of this is very helpful to my current situation. I just want to update my maps if possible. I don't want to see this thread get shutdown too so I'm not going to post everything here; however, the pdf I'm attaching should be of particular helpfulness to any of you.
Currently I am running Application OS:
Sync 3 V3.0.17307 (JR3T-14G381-AK)
I am trying to figure out how to install:
NA Nav 1.16 (JR3T-14G421-CB)
I think this licence file is part of the puzzle:
JR3T-14G424-CB_88385
I also think that that these IFS update scripts are part of the puzzle:
HB5T-14G386-AHH_84047
HB5T-14G386-ALA_82899
but for the life of me I can not get any of these to install. I'm near the point of giving up.
Oh well, here's an attachment I think you'll enjoy. Feel free to ask me if I have any anything else. I'll say the same thing I said in the other thread: I'm not posting any links to Ford intellectual property here, I'm just posting a document (which may or may not contain hyperlinks to every Sync 3 file ever published with full details of what each file is)

To install Voice you have to remove GN first so it'll have room to extract.
Is GB5T-14G386-SC a utility then which deletes gracenotes? I primarily use CarPlay and couldn't care less about Gracenotes. I would rather free up the 2.2GB it normally occupies.
You can't install the 16 maps using the OEM install process because it and the license file are both signed with a key that doesn't exist on production APIMs. The License is a text file that gets dropped on the APIM.
