I wonder if they're gonna meet their 'summer 2016' rollout for upgrades.

@white_panther - Now that you've had some more time with the latest version, have you noticed any issues/bugs? How's the overall stability been across all the different capabilities?

I have had the truck for about 100 miles now, and I have not seen or noticed any issues with the system itself. I have noticed that my phone (old phone) sometimes has a hard time leaving AA while connected to the truck. It is constantly trying to launch the AA in the phone, even after I req it to quit. This is prob designed to work this way, not sure. As far as running apps (google maps, iheartradio [not iheartauto], and pandora) no issues at all.

Also the screenshot I posted was taken this morning from my owner.ford.com. It really was just to show that for AA you only need an OTA update, and for CarPlay you need hardware.

Glad to hear it's fairly stable so far. Thanks for the continued updates and information.

This was my conversation today with the Ford sync team.

Please wait for a SYNC Agent to respond.
Joy says:
Hello Steven. My name is Joy, how can I help you?
Steven says:
Hi, I just bought a new f150 2 days ago. I was told it could connect to my smart phone for nav. It doesn't because it does not have ver 2 of sync3. When will it be available?
Joy says:
Congratulations on your new truck! I can advise you on that a bit.
Joy says:
The option to use Apple Carplay or Android Auto will be available through the SYNC 3 upgrade. Currently, we are all anxiously waiting for the release of the update. However, more details will be provided soon enough. Keep an eye on your Ford Owner account for any notifications here: https://owner.ford.com/tools/account...p-to-date.html
Steven says:
Great. So there will be an update then.
Joy says:
That is correct, Steven. Do you have any other questions for me at this time?
Steven says:
Any ball park time frame for the update
Joy says:
All I know is that it will be some time this year.
Steven says:
OK thanks. Will it be something that has to go back to the dealer or just a download
Joy says:
What kind of phone do you have?
Steven says:
android. samsung s5
Joy says:
As far as I am aware, this will be an update that you can download and install on your own.
Steven says:
Thank you. I will keep checking for the update. Have a great day.
Joy says:
You're welcome! I'm glad I could help! Thank you for contacting Ford Motor Company. Please take a short survey to rate my service. Click on the small red "X" in the top right hand corner to launch the survey. Have a great day!

Default Well it is about as late Summer as it gets

I bought a new 2016 F150 with Sync 3 in June with the assurance that Android Auto would be available by late summer. So far noone at the dealership nor Ford Customer service has any idea when that update will occur thou it is on some of the 2017 models. Thanks Ford for not satisfying your current customers.Great Way to get people to indorce your Truck to friends and family. I have Friends with Chevys and Android Auto works fine on their vehicles.

My bet is that about the time the 2017s start showing up at the dealerships the update will show up.

Would you not have bought it if they had said fall? This update is proving both very popular and information-less. Ford isn't Tesla, they simply suck at software. It'll get here when it gets here.

Have you checked the owner.ford.com site? An update *is* out that supports Android Auto. I just picked up my factory build 2016 six days ago, and it came installed. See post from Lucky644 a few posts prior in this thread.....
