I'm thinking (hoping) they will announce exact availability at the Sync App Developers Conference in early September.

I don't see how app developers are going to want to spend a bunch of time right now re-configuring their apps solely for 2017 buyers.

The Android Auto update was a big factor in purchasing a 2016 for me.
Fingers now crossed...lol

I just picked up my 2016 XLT a couple of weeks ago and it is listed in my manual as well. Sounds like we just need to be patient and wait for the firmware upgrade (along with a nominal fee for hardware upgrade as well).

I doubt dealers have the 2.0 firmware in their systems yet. So the only release they would have available to load would be 1.0.

Hopefully ford will either release the upgrade or at least a date on when it's available.
I think 2.0 is already on the PTS/Dealerconnect site. I havent logged in for a couple of weeks now, so I may be wrong.

OASIS is very simple to use and they tried to make it as idiot-proof (read: tech-proof) as possible to avoid this kind of situations (downgrading the firmware version for example)

So I wanted to comfirm that my XLT which was built in Kansas the 28 of July, and delivered 9 of Aug, has Android Auto. No Carplay (not apple user anyways). So far i have seen Maps and Whatsapp working (besides all the music services). I will test with Waze later.

Nice. What are your initial thoughts of AA so far?

I think they are referencing the 3rd quarter and later build 2016 F150s and troubleshooting. Sounds like they are saying they didnt want the Ford dealer flashing back to the old software as troubleshooting the "why it looks different than the other 2016s".

I have only driven the truck for about 15 miles, and in that little time I can say that I like the android auto interface for the most part. I really like that I saved money on a GPS unit that would become outdated quickly (Houston is changed fast). I like that it is pretty intuitive as most tech toy nowadays. I am going to say that I do not like that the XM was not integrated in the AA control panel, which means you must exit AA to change stations (at least I haven't yet figured out if I can tune stations from within AA). I also find it a bit distracting how the Whatsapp messages pop up. I will try to disable this, since I am part of a few groups, the messages never stop (or at least that how it feels). I am excited about future Waze integration, and being Android it will be cool to see what else is down the pipeline. Just an FYI, my phone is Nexus 5 (the original from 2013-14 time frame)

Oh, I think I'll love that about the XM. I don't plan on subscribing to those repetitive channels and wish I could just remove it completely from my media list, that along with the 3 fm and 3 am sources. I'm hoping android auto makes it just a straight google music/usb player.
