The update has not been released to the general public yet, Ford is now saying late 2016.

Gotcha - sorry for the misinformation. Wonder why they are putting it in new vehicles, but withholding from general release? I thought it was the hardware upgrade for Apple owners that was now late 2016....

Thanks Ford for not satisfying your current customers.Great Way to get people to indorce your Truck to friends and family. I have Friends with Chevys and Android Auto works fine on their vehicles.
I have a two month old 2016 and my bluetooth cant stay connected. Always had problems with my 2013 f150 always disconnecting. On the 2013 i had to pull the the fuse about every month. Took it to the dealer twice and all they did was pull the fuse, great ****en fix Ford. Ive asked amy my friends with chevys, tundras and none if them have issue with the bluetooth. **** ive had my 2015 subaru legacy for a year and it has NEVER disconnected once. So in my opinion Ford should focus on the blutooth actually working. so i believe this so called "update" will be a **** party mess. Ive been loving the new truck but hate that fact i can't jam out.

New vehicles can have a fresh install with default settings, updated ones need to save everything and update without an issue or face a bunch of pissed off people. Testing has to be done to ensure this doesn't happen.

That would be my guess at least.

I would also think that the update is for all vehicles with Sync3, and not just the F150. So the testing pool is a bit larger. I wonder if there's any hardware differences between the models. If there are, that would complicate things. But one can hope it's a standard hardware platform across all models.

I made 5 min video on my disappointments with sync 3. It seems appropriate to post it here because your thoughts are in line with my video comments regarding Sync 3 in 2016 F150's.

No problem with Bluetooth in my 2016 here! Maybe it's a problem with your phone?!?!

It's a little frustrating...originally this update was supposed to be out at the end of spring. It was just supposed to be an update to support CarPlay and Android Auto...now it requires a new APIM for CarPlay....kinda pissed. I didn't wait for 2017 for a number of reasons and CarPlay availability was one of them. It also pisses me off that they haven't provided updates for the buggy USB/Bluetooth connectivity. Mine won't stay playing for longer than 5 minutes at a time without reconnecting...along with AppLink not making Spotify available. It's really a pain. Glad to see some 2016's got AA though...I'd like to see someone with CarPlay.

Vertical video....

You also are confused on the modem thing, that's not required for car play. The hardware for car play is the USB port with the mfi chip. That will be the 'unconfirmed price that you claimed Ford's site says 150 even though it doesn't' add-on to get apple car play to work. Speculation is that they were already in the manufacturing stage when apple released the final standard, either way it's not in the 16 vehicles.

Sync 3 isn't the best manufacturer infotainment center, it's by far not the worst either and way better than previous versions of Sync. My main complaint is that my phone's name isn't center aligned under the Bluetooth logo on the home screen. I wish Ford was more open about the status and feel like they are really dropping the ball on keeping us in the loop. That said, we will be getting AA and car play, it's just a matter of when. It sucks iPhone users will have to spend some money on special hardware to make it work but they are use to that, right?
