Question Sync 3 - No Apps Found Android

2016 Lariat Supercrew. Samsung S9+

Bought the truck about 2 weeks ago. It had a faulty APIM and lagged terribly. I never could even get it to really pair with my phone. The dealer agreed to replace the APIM and update from 1.0 to 3.0.

I got it home tonight, and the only app I can get the truck to see is FordPass. I can open up many of the compatible apps on my phone (Waze, Dominos, etc.) and my truck will not pick it up via Bluetooth. Nor does it pick up via USB cable. I've done the permissions to allow running of apps. I've given permission for USB data. I've checked every damn spot. I've searched YouTube videos. I've looked on Ford's site. I am at a loss.

I did the power button & >> reset. I even did a "restore to defaults" reset and gave all the permissions all over again. I've even checked via WiFi if there were any updates (though the dealer supposedly installed the recent updates today).

Any ideas? I'm kinda pissed/disappointed here.

Disregard.

I have finally read that Waze doesn't work with Android yet...but it does work through Android Auto, which I did get to work.

I also downloaded Pandora, and it works. As well as Glympse and Accuweather. Kinda crazy the apps have to be physically open on the phone to work, and your Sync3 system won't just keep apps that are always on your phone and launch them straight from the Sync system.

Oh well...

I just bought an XLT and the salesman had trouble setting mine up. He finally slowed down and paid attention and realized that he did not acknowledge a couple of questions during setup. When he finally did it went through like a breeze.
Not much help.

Silver, I had similar frustrations and decided to just go with Android Auto and CarPlay. I get Waze and Pandora so I'm good.
Hopefully they'll figure out those two via Bluetooth soon

Seems like I have a very old Navigation version.

On this site: https://www.4dtech.com/software-updates/ it appears I can download new navigation files and with the new nav stuff, Waze should work by itself and be recognized on the screen.

Gotta go buy a thumbdrive tomorrow, as all of mine are too small.

Here it gets more confusing. On this YouTube video, look at minute 3:40. Look at the version he is showing after his update he ran off a legit Ford USB map update he purchased.

His newly updated stuff says "Navigation Maps Version: NA 1 16" This video was shot just a few months ago.

Is that 4dtech link above calling this: Navigation Version 3.0 (Build 18093, updates from version 2.2+) something different, or what?

I'm beginning to get more and more lost in the sauce.

So...maybe that site is just the Sync 3 upgrade from a previous version of Sync and has nothing to do with the latest map software version???

Seems navigation version NA 1 16 is the most recent map that is being put on 2018 vehicles.

When they replaced my APIM, added Sync 3.0, I guess they also added the most recent maps.

Guess Waze will just run through Android Auto.
