I've been trying several times to sync my apps through the sync 3 and no luck, just process wheel searching. Is there something I'm missing or is it the software? I did read on Ford website that the iPhone 6 Plus is not supported yet. I'll check the site again.

 

Which apps are you trying to use?

Pandora and Iheart auto work fine for me. What I have to do though is plug the phone in via USB and then open the apps on it before I start moving. Sometimes the Pandora won't come back after I **** down and restart but just open it again and it works fine.

 

So Pandora and iHeart. I'm trying CarPlay but won't find the sync 3. Also wasn't aware those were the apps. Saw a commercial where most apps displayed and assumed that. Thanks! Any idea on CarPlay though?

 

LOL, you got tricked by Ford just like me. Carplay is not yet available on the F150 Sync 3. Their needs to be hardware and software upgrade and their is no set date on when those upgrades will be available.

All good as I use Apple Music mostly anyways tethered through USB port. Works awesome!

 

Carplay is quite awesome. Just being able to use google maps makes it better than any interface on the market.

 

Not sure how anyone could be tricked by Ford on CarPlay, they make it super clear anywhere they mention CarPlay or Android Auto that it will be a later software update.

 

Hahaha, yes they made it abundantly clear that there would be a software update available "later" this year. What they failed to mention and buried so you had to search for it, is that in order for CarPlay to work you will have to purchase a hardware upgrade as well. From the beginning all they mentioned was the software, now as we get closer they talk about hardware too.


So yes there was some trickiness and deceit on the part of Ford.


With all that said, the Apps work pretty well, I would like to get carplay going. Had it in a rental Yukon XL and it was nice, pretty smooth.

 

I guess there still isn't any mention on how much the hardware will cost? I'm ok buying something if I have to, I would just like to know before I get a 2016 that eventually I WILL be able to get Carplay on it. Otherwise I'm fine waiting until 2017.
