Default Sync 3 Blank Clock

I searched all over and couldn't seem to find any reference to a recent problem I have encountered. A small, but nagging issue... the clock on my Sync 3 system says --:-- no matter how many times I set the clock manually or via GPS signal.

Have any of you encountered this? My clock always worked on my MFT setup. Hopefully this isn't a live with it type of issue. After all, how am I expected to get to work on time without a clock staring me in the face at all times

After much head scratching I am yet left puzzled. I have disconnected the neg battery terminal for half an hour and done a master reset of the system, all to no avail.

The very curious thing is that upon startup the time displays properly for about 3 seconds (some sort of boot loader bug perhaps). When I go into the time setting screen the proper time is shown. If I set the time incorrectly and have it set via GPS that also works.

Strange days...

How about telling us what year and model you have and if it came from the factory with SYNC3...that could be very helpful information. Since you mention MFT....was that a prior vehicle or this one? If you did a swap either your missing hardware or its programmed wrong.

All great questions. I apologize for leaving out those details. The issue is present in a 15 XLT, which had MFT as an OEM system. I swapped in a screen and non-nav APIM (3.0) from a 19 Escape and bought the other necessary companion pieces (GPS ant, USB Hub and hub power lead adapter) from various sources.

I haven't yet had to mess with any settings utilizing forscan. Everything functions as it should save for the clock. I was hoping someone had encountered the same issue at one point or another and perhaps had some advice.

My next step is going to be to try and get an update file from the Ford site to see if that will provide any remedy.

Have you considered that you've reached the singularity? Tomorrow might get very interesting for you.

Its all about programming, because everything works, doesn't mean its programmed correctly. You could have things turned on your truck doesn't have. Downloading a file to update from Ford isn't going to help with no programming.

That makes perfect sense. I was hoping someone might have some insight as to what APIM setting could be tweaked utilizing Forscan to get the clock to display for more than a few seconds.

After all, the infotainment unit not an integral an integral system. 99% functional might have to do. I have gotten in the habit of just tapping on where the time should be displayed to see what time it is.

Still strikes me as odd that when entering the clock setting interface it shows the correct time; however, the home screen (and any other interface panels) show --:--.

Well, certain things in life are not worth losing sleep over. If anyone does happen to have pinpointed solutions, please share
