Default Sync 3

Was watching some videos on sync3 and this ford dealer claims that some of the 2015 vehicles might be dual compatible to upgrade to sync 3 when it comes out. Anyone heard anything if the 2015 f150 is dual compatible?

I've been wondering this since the MFT changes that happened in mid March that removed some functionality (heated/cooled seats) also my MFT system seems way faster then other MFT systems I've seen in previous model years (my truck was built the end of March). Even if they did rev the hardware so they can easily change the software during the build process I have extreme doubts that they'd allow us to upgrade to Sync3 from MFT. I guess only time will tell.

No. The new Sync 3 will not be compatible with the 2015 F-150. It was discussed in other threads on here but after a quick search to get you a link I'm not sure where I saw it. From what was said it's not just a software change, but hardware as well if I'm not mistaken.

Hope this helps.

I understand what your saying about it not being just software but hardware as well. But the way he explains it in the video some 2015's will have dual hardware so you can just upgrade it. Not sure how that would work but that's how I'm taking the video. Maybe it's already a pinch and zoom screen just not enabled yet because the software is not available.

My apologies, I didn't watch the video at first as I thought it was one I had previously seen. But I just watched it now and I didn't hear him talk about the F150 specifically. Around the 2:50 mark he mentioned that the MFT will not be upgradable to the Sync 3 unless the system is dual capable and then mentions that the 2015 Edge is rumored to be dual capable, but again nothing about the new F150.

No apologies are needed hope you didn't take it as me snapping back. He said some 2015's and did mention edge but wasn't sure if what he meant by some. And if some might include the f150. Just trying to decide if I want to wait to order a 2016 or just order the 2015. I'm a tech guy so this is a bigger deal to me while others might not care. I'm just hoping more news comes out about sync3 soon and which vehicles it will be available in and when.

No worries at all I understand the tech thing completely. I noticed when I test drove one that the system seemed to have some lag. Certainly not a deal breaker by itself but once I heard of the new system and saw video of it in action it really made me think.

Just a thought but if you're not in a hurry to buy why not just wait. If you don't I'm sure you'll be kicking yourself later as I really can't see a new system being worse than the one it's replacing especially considering how bad the MFT seems to be.

Here is the thing I'm not in a huge rush but I do need to get something sooner than later. Not sure if that makes a lot of sense or not lol. I don't know how much longer my truck is going to last me it's got some issues and don't want to dump a bunch if money into it to trade it away. But I wait too long and the thing is going to die on me. Anyone have an idea of when the 2016 trucks will be announced and what changes will be made?

HI everyone,

I just want to jump in and confirm that SYNC 3 will not be backwards compatible/interchangeable with MFT; it's all-new hardware and software. Hope that helps!
