Default Sync 3.4

I currently have a 2018 F150 and my current sync version is 3.0, is there any way to force the 3.4 update on my sync unit or is there somewhere I can download it from. I heard 3.4 is a new layout and a couple of new features. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I could be wrong, but I thought 3.4 was only released for 2019 and newer.

If you log in to the owner.ford.com site, and enter your VIN.. it'll tell you if the 3.4 sync upgrade is available. The USB stick method worked for me. IMHO the 3.4 upgrade did nothing miraculous from a user perspective. The color changed a little, and I lost the ability to browse a usb stick while driving. That prompted me to modify a setting in forscan to repair. Pandora became an app that worked as a source. Soooo... I would tell you you're not really missing out on anything.

2016-2018 F-150s run SYNC3 versions up to and including 3.0
2019-2020 F-150s run SYNC3 versions 3.2 and up to 3.4 which is current.

Any means to take a 2016-2018 SYNC3 system beyond 3.0 is not supported by Ford and never will be.
There are other means but if staying strictly by what Ford supports, you are stuck at 3.0 with a 16-18 F150.

I have a 2016 and went ahead to pushed it 3.4 through usb stick and searching through the forums. I get a USB error on start up but outside of that it is flawless, USB still works fine for Android auto. To me coming from the sync 2 in my 2015, this sync 3.4 is amazing. If you do search out the way to update you might as well venture into Forscan. Forscan is truly awesome once you play with it enough.

Your error on startup (and Carplay lack) can be fixed by updating (replacing) the USB port in the cubby, or wherever your forward USB port is. This is covered in the "Upgrade Sync 3 V3.0 to V3.4 instructions" thread. (link in earlier post)
