Default Sync 2 Navigation A7 Map Update

I recently purchased the A7 map update. The installation was a no brainer. However when checking the Map Database Version in the settings menu it still showed A6. After about 30 minutes on the phone with the Ford Sync group, I learned the only way to update the Map Database Version on the settings menu is to perform a Master Reset - which is a PITA because it returns your entire system to the factory configuration. The only thing that doesn't revert back to the factory settings is the Sync version, which I had previously updated to V3.8. I confirmed this by running Health Report.

This isn't a huge issue other than the fact the Navigation SD Card Installation Instructions should have mentioned this final step.

If your interested here's the instruction sheet that comes with the new A7 card. I added the note to perform a Master Reset.

$149 but I was able to sell my A6 card for $75

Haven't had a chance to use the Navigation yet so I can't say if there's any noticeable improvements.

Why would they. A6 was the most current map version available when you purchased your vehicle

Got my A7 card today and followed the instructions that you posted but I can't find where in the settings to check if A7 is showing?
I looked under settings, system and navigation but don't see anything?

TIA

Before resorting to Master Reset, I think I'll try to use the REBOOT app, as suggested by good ol' jm061

Worked great fer the v3.8 upgrade.

Nothing is lost - worth a try, at least.

Actually there is even an easier way to reset it on newer vehicles including the 15 F-150:

An APIM Reset consists of an APIM software cold boot
Ignition OFF.

Remove any devices connected to the USB port(s), audio input jack/socket (if equipped), SD slot (if equipped), or RCA jacks (if equipped).

Ignition ON.

Cold boot the APIM software by simultaneously pressing and holding the FCIM power and seek up buttons for 8 seconds, and then releasing.

This forces a reboot of the system and does NOT revert settings back to default like a master reset.
