What are the stats/trim level of your F150?

My cluster looks nothing like that. I haven't seen all the other trim levels though.

Around the time I got my license, Mom had a brand new '80 Thunderbird Town Landau with the digital dash. They had a big problem with them and the modules were back-ordered when Mom's speedo turned into a random-number generator. It always said 0 when you were stopped, but when moving it would just change numbers at random and often.

She got a letter from the Ford dealership that said the speedometer gave no reliable indication of speed and the part was on order. She interpreted that letter as "carte blanche" and was stopped on the same stretch of US Hwy 80 between Mineola and Terrell 3 or 4 times by the same Highway Patrol trooper before the part came in, no tickets. Once, early in the morning with no traffic around her, he clocked her at 107 and said it took him miles to catch up to her.

I'm sure I would've gotten hauled off to jail for that one, letter or not.

Picked up a new xlt 302a sport on Monday. Today the speedometer did the exact same thing. Stopped it reads 45MPH, Did you get your new cluster or did the issue resolve it self? Issue resolved?

i had this happen last week. It slowly corrected itself and hasn't happened since. i think you are crazy to let someone tear into your dash for something that appears to self correct. Its likely a software glitch that'll get sorted out by ford and since that's likely the case your new cluster will suffer the same glitch.

Unless it glitches permanently i'd leave well enough alone.

I did a little more research and ended up running a gauges test in engineer mode. Basically just turned the ignition on while holding down the OK button on the steering wheel. First test on the list set the speedometer back to 0. If it continues to happen I will take it back to the dealer to look at.

Called the Dealer today and explained this situation. I was told there were no bulletins on my truck for any issues at all. So this is nothing they are aware of. When it happens again they told me not to run the Gauge sweep test to fix it. Just bring it to them afterwards. I kind of find it hard to believe they have no knowledge of this issue. Quick google search will get you tons of speedometer issues on all different years of F 150's. I'm hoping it just some sort of software update and not cluster replacement. If I get any more info I will pass it along.

As of right now my truck has done this 6 times and I don't even have a 1000 miles on it.
