Default Specific question on mirrors

Question about mirror swaps. The truck I'm getting (XLT 302A) has regular mirrors with heat and signal, and also the LED spotlight option. Can I put the tow mirrors that have the LED spotlight on them onto the truck? My dealer says in his experience, mirror swaps are very difficult because Ford has nearly unique set ups for each kind of mirror. I just wondered since they have exactly the same electronic functionality if that meant it would use the same harness and be plug and play.

Jeepcritter:

If you get the tow mirrors with the exact same options, they are a 1:1 exchange. It's when you start adding options, that interchange you need to go to the tow mirror thread to get answers. https://www.f150forum.com/f118/retro...rs-xlt-309210/ We'll see if the table is readable

As long as the new mirror has the same options, it is 2 bolts, 2 nuts, 1 connector and done. I have the Trail Ridge mirrors from 1AAUTO and they were plug-n-play. Easy Peasy.

Your dealer is lazy and uneducated.

As mentioned it could not be any easier to swap them as long as you get the correct mirror (same options) If you take your time it takes about 15 minutes to swap them.

thanks....i think he might not have understood what I was asking, but I would think if you have all the same functions, it should work. It's number three on the list behind a bed liner and tonneau cover.

Thanks, just looked at these and put them on the wish list. Pretty sure I found the one that has the same options my current mirrors have.

I did not know it was plug and play if the options are the same. All I want are folding tow mirrors...sadly don't have the folding part on my XLT

If you want POWER folding tow mirrors, you will have to add the wire to get it. If all you want is folding tow mirrors, the tow mirrors I added to my XLT are folding tow mirrors. I just have to get out of the truck and manually fold them. The power folding part was not important to me. In the last ten years, I have not folded a car's mirrors twice. YMMV

Can you post a link for the mirror that you got? I tend to always fold my mirrors if I am parked in tight spots. Or parked on the street somewhere. Coming from my 1 ton work truck it has just become habit to fold in my mirrors. The stock f150 mirrors are so small for me driving that they kinda irk me. I could obviously go with out power folding mirrors seeing as I have my entire life....but it would be nice. With your Trail Ridge Mirrors how is the quality? Similar to OEM? Did you go with them for price?

I installed TR power folding tow mirrors last week on my 2017 XLT 302a pkg. I like them, mirror quality is good, do search and can see my install photos. Need to do some searching for best price. EBay, Amazon as price varies. Was able to get my set for $465.
