single "clunk" when starting the engine
mine was built in early 18. Supposedly the TSB is for the late 17’s. I told them about it and the dealership basically said it should have the updated TSB. Now I have the Blue Driver and it doesn’t show any updates for mine. I will check again just to be sure.
How much good did the update do to your shifting?

Ive got this clunk happening maybe once every 20 starts at most.
My chances of dealer replicating it are slim to nil so I guess Ill wait n see.
I appear to have alot of the gremlins....nothing catastraphic but concerning a bit

FYI:
I picked up truck from dealer service after they had it for 10 days.
Transmission Valve body was replaced.
Truck runs little smoother and quiter but.....
STILL HAS START UP CLUNK!
Basically same as before, although so far less frequent. Only had truck 2 days tho...
Has Anyone notice that when moving from P to D, as your passing R the transmission clunks into R while passing even though button is depressed on shifter??

That's normal, if you pause in the R position long enough it will engage. The button on the shifter only releases the physical lock to allow you to move it.
I have a June 2018 build 3.5 Screw with the startup rattle (not in the engine bay, but near the front passenger side of the tranny) and this startup clunk. I have a suspicion that both of these issues may be related to the auto start/stop transmission pump, but I have no evidence to back it up. I do have a long enough warranty to make sure I can mostly ignore it for now.
Edit: After looking at a diagram of the transmission, it's possible that it could be the gear-driven variable displacement pump. That would seem to fit the things I'm noticing better in some ways.

My 2018 Ecoboost does it, but as expected, only when the drivetrain is unloaded, like when I use the parking brake (which is rarely), so not an issue for me at all. Most of the time I park on flat surfaces, including my garage, where the tranny 'locks' in park, so no clunk when started that way. You also need play in the drivetrain for it to clunk, so it doesn't happen every time. For me is a non-issue, and basically impossible to fix on any car, but Ford should have used rubber isolators like other auto makers to avoid that minor annoyance. But yes, the devil is in the details, no? Quality now is like job #10. So I kind of expect things like that. Ha ha.
