I have had several black vehicles in the past, and hands down that "Tuxedo Black" is the most forgiving black color out of all of them, must say I like it a lot.

And yes, darker colors are a bit harder to keep clean.

My GF has a gray Toyota Tacoma, that thing never looks dirty, go figure.

Lol a lot of people on these forums would lose their mind living here. So many people obsessed with keeping their vehicles clean-its pretty much impossible here. I have a gravel driveway and street-my truck is always dirty.

Yes you are right, I would lose my mind knowing that as soon as I washed my truck it would get dirty driving to the mailbox!

All I've ever done is wax. Liquid at that. I find black paint easier since you can see the dry wax easier after application. I just don't understand what's so difficult about it. Water spots are a pain, especially for me since I have very hard water. I wash the truck, dry the truck, looks good. Come outside 30 minutes later and I have white streaks from the water that drained out of the mirrors and emblems and dried. That sucks to clean.

Maybe "polishing" is more difficult for a black vehicle. I wouldn't know. You're the auto care guy so you're the expert.

I've had various black cars through the years and the Tuxedo Black is by far the most forgiving color. I do have swirl marks in my truck (it's been through the evil auto wash a few times. See: winter), but they're very hard to see and only in perfect lighting. I'm very impressed so far. I am **** too but not obsessive. I'll wax a couple times a year and hand wash once / week or so. That's it. That being said if this were a "work" vehicle that I drove on gravel roads or to a dusty job site, I don't think I would choose black of any shade.
I grew up and lived in PA. I know what it's like to hand wash a vehicle in January. It consisted of taking a bucket to the self clean car wash. High pressure spray, hand wash, high pressure rinse, low pressure rinse, hand dry. Quickly. My Dad used to make me clean and dry inside all of the door jambs as well. The habit stuck.

Default Shadow Black

This may not be the right thread to post my question/reply but here goes. I recently purchased a 2016 Ford, Shadow Black. When I first looked at the vehicle, and I really like black, I mentioned to the sales rep that the paint felt a bit rough and he said - no problem- a little clay and it will be fine. They cleaned and used clay on the vehicle and it didn't do a lot of good. Next they wet sanded and polished the car and although the paint is smoother and looks ok from a distance, blue specks are prominent and the swirls are all over. Can anyone tell me if they see blue specks in the shadow black paint on there vehicles?

Thanks.

Shadow black is not a straight black. It is a pearl black. The pearl used is a blue pearl

Default Shadow black

mbukkock,

Thanks so much for the clarification regarding the blue specks in the paint. Now my only problem is getting the dealership to remove all the swirls. Actually, I'm think I should probably try to remove the swirls myself.

Thanks again,
Tony
