I've never owned nor will I ever own a black vehicle because they show dirt and wear so easy. However, when they are clean nothing looks better than a black vehicle, especially with tinted windows. My nephew has a 2014 F-150 in tuxedo black and it looks so good when it's clean.
I think Shadow Black looks great. I just think the dealership didn't take care of the paint while my car was sitting on the lot and now I'm trying to restore it to what it should be. Tony
I've owned two tuxedo black vehicles ('10 Fusion, '15 F-150) and one shadow black ('01 Ranger). I will never own another non metallic paint vehicle again.
My last three vehicles have been Tuxedo Black, the first being my 2010 Edge. Fell in love with the color the first time I saw it. Living in Pa, I too deal with the salt issue in the winter. I only go to touch less car washes in the winter, they use water pressure but no physical contact with the vehicle. I clay bar every spring followed by two coats of wax. Also wax in the fall prior to winter crap weather. I do wash my vehicles in the sun and dry with microfiber clothes and get no water spotting. For what it's worth, I think mud flaps front and rear do wonders to help keep dust off of the vehicle.
Thanks so much for the clarification regarding the blue specks in the paint. Now my only problem is getting the dealership to remove all the swirls. Actually, I'm think I should probably try to remove the swirls myself.
Thanks again,
Tony
If you watch Karate Kid 3 times in a row before going out too the garage to get rid of the swirls it will go faster.......
Shadow Black does take a lot of work to clean however, when I wash I wait till the sun is low or in the early morning. I move it into the garage and use my leaf blower to eliminate water in the mirrors and door frames etc. It really helps minimize water spots. I then use a waffle towel I bought from the "Chemical Guys" which works like a charm to dry. I have been using a Meguiers wax for Black vehicles which I think works great. I am going to get a Ceramic wax job done in a week or so, which apparently eliminates the swirls. I'll update on that.
