You are the first person I've ever heard of with that opinion.
You can not tell me that taking care of black, is the same as white, or silver, or even red.
I won't say it's as easy to keep clean, no. Keeping black clean is a full-time job. However, getting them clean is just as easy to me. Can you half-*** clean white/silver and get away with it looking "ok"? Yes. But if you do it right no matter the color, then black is not more difficult to clean than any other color. You're still going to wash every panel and dry every panel.
I've never had an issue with swirl marks. Then again, I've always waxed at least twice a year, always used automotive shampoo, microfiber mit, and a chamois to dry and I've never taken my vehicles through an automatic washer.
You're lucky, living in Texas you don't have to figure out how to hand wash your truck in January! Lol!
I've had various black cars through the years and the Tuxedo Black is by far the most forgiving color. I do have swirl marks in my truck (it's been through the evil auto wash a few times. See: winter), but they're very hard to see and only in perfect lighting. I'm very impressed so far. I am **** too but not obsessive. I'll wax a couple times a year and hand wash once / week or so. That's it. That being said if this were a "work" vehicle that I drove on gravel roads or to a dusty job site, I don't think I would choose black of any shade.

By taking care, I meant polishing and waxing. Everyone knows washing black is the same as any other.
OP, I've had almost all black vehicles and this time I was thinking about getting Magnetic or Ingot Silver, but when I saw the metal flakes in Tuxedo black, I had to have it. I've been wishing for it for years. I never saw Tuxedo black on previous model years.

I know the feeling! My dad got Magnetic and he's not a huge fan because of all of the sparkles... Says it looks too much like a boat... I told him it matches his boat better that way.
They've had the tuxedo black since 2012 or so... I was so disappointed when they announced that they were no longer offering it for 2016's... I'm not a fan of a lot of things that "sparkle" but vehicles I am... Not much I can do about it now though!

I was close! I knew it was around there but remember seeing it on a 2012 for the first time... So I'm guessing in 2020 we will get a metallic black again... Or around there
All my past vehicles were black :
1997 Camry (Black)
1999 4Runner LTD (Black)
2007 BMW X3 (Black)
2005 Dodge Ram (Black)
2008 Tundra (Black)
2013 MB ML350 (Black) Current
2015 F-150 (Tuxedo Black) Current
I've had several black cars and currently have a black Corvette. I've never had a black truck so I'm assuming it would be a little harder to maintain than a car - going my my personal truck owning experience. So long as you keep a good coat of wax on the paint it should be on the easy side when you do need to wash - and hand washing is the best idea. My Vette sits most of the time and doesn't really get DIRTY, just dusty. If you only need to get dust off the paint the best solution I've came up with is a California Duster. It only takes about 5 minutes to do my car and it will look freshly washed - without the mess. I also use a wax that doesn't leave a white residue - no white in the cracks and crevices.
Good luck!
For anyone who doesn't know what a California Duster is, here's a picture. You don't bare down while dusting - just let the strings lightly drag across the paint. There is wax embedded in the strings that holds on to the dust. You don't want to try to dust something that's been sitting in the hot sun either - the wax in the strings will leave ugly trails that have to be washed off.
