So something hit the grill and damaged the chrome and it came off when you washed it? I'm not connecting this to an issue with Ford.
As much as Ford and many owners want to call it chrome, it's just shiny paint that flakes easily. Real chrome on a new vehicle wouldn't flake off like that. At the same time, if it were regular automotive paint with a clearcoat, it still wouldn't flake off like that. I'd call it a defect.

Cheap manufacturing, yes. Defect, no... it's working as intended.

Can you substantiate that this is paint and not chrome? Not trying to be confrontational, serious question. I ask because I have some places on another project I could use paint that looks like that.
If it were on the face, sure, but this is on top at the back of the grill where it peeled off, and I couldn't see any marks from a rock either, but see several on the face. I also found a large missing patch of paint on the drivers rear fender flare at the bottom. I swear this truck is Frickin cursed.
Burn it, getting SO close to that resolution man it's not funny. Eh, I didn't say that, nope never did........Where did I leave that fully charged Lipo pack.
