Default Rust

It was raining, but looks like I might have some rust and it was on both sides. I only have 640 miles.

Just a word of advice: people will laugh at you for complaining about this rust.

I complained about a rusty differential, U joint and axles and was basically told that I was a whiner and overreacting for complaining about it - because it's a truck and its normal. You expect your brand new truck to be rust free? Silly.

If it's any conciliation, my upper ball joints look like that too, 3 months and 5k. If it bugs you that much, quick hit of paint, I look at rust like aging, it's gonna happen one way or the other (well maybe not aluminum), end of the day it's surface rust, unpleasant to look at yes. Issues like the rear axles (before it even has any miles on it) that look like they have been exposed to the elements for years, I wouldn't been good with that.

I would not sweat that. Did you see the picture of the guy whos rear differential and exhaust looked like it got an acid bath? That was unacceptable. Enjoy your truck.

We have a right to have our new truck perfect... I complained to the dealer about the rust and they are paying to get it fixed.

I don't care what people think on here.

Most metals used in suspension parts are designed to surface rust. If you must paint it go nuts but that ball joint is no different than any other that's been in service for years and years. You should be far more concerned that it's not serviceable and not about the rust.

I like the product Metal Blast to prep the rust area, then coat it with Rust Bullet. I'm just a consumer that likes that product.

That's surprising. I've had 2 Tacomas, a 1996, and a 2008. Both were recalled due to frame rust.
Toyota bought back almost all 1996-2004 Tacomas around here and many 2005-2008 owners trucks have been parked literally for months waiting on new frames.

That's why after having Toyota's since 1973, I'm now driving a Ford.

Shawn.
