Default Running Ethanol e-85

On my 10th tank in a row of E-85 with 3.5na motor. Makes it run super smooth and has a noticeable increase in power. Fuel mileage drops by about 4 mpg. $1.81 a gallon this morning. It shifts from 6th to 5th less often when it is drinking the alcohol on the highway.

Do your truck engine and yourself a favor. Do not burn that corn syrup concoction in ANY ENGINE.

I have an '06 FX4 that has 300,000 miles on it and runs perfect still and used E-85 more than half the time even at -20 degrees. E-85 burned really clean. Original fuel pump, original injectors, no valve problems, no sludge in 5.4 running 5-30 full synthetic. No oil use so I think everything survived fine. It even gave it a sweet exhaust smell. When gas was close to $5 per gallon in Chicago a while back, it was a nice break when filling up and not spending $100 each time.

The price of fuel across the board is expected to drop even more

The website's picture of the gas pump really makes me don't want to pump at any place selling pure gas lol

Looks like someplace straight out of movies like Wrong Turn, Texas Chainsaw Massacre or whatever lol

Do yourself a favor and don't believe everything you read on the internet. It makes you no smarter than sleeping at a Holiday Inn.

Does your '06 have a multi fuel engine? I ask because if it does you are setup to run E85 as is my '06 Crown Vic. Does not mean I do, but I can.

True

My old truck was run on 10% ethanol I have replaced the fuel tank, fuel pump, sending unit, 2 fuel filters, rebuilt the carburetor twice. Pure gas is a good site for us older trucks. Also some of tour lawnmowers, chainsaws and suck state if you use any ethanol fuels you void the warranty. If your truck is not setup for E85 running ONLY E85 100% of the time will cause problems. Not all of them in the engine. Ethanol is water based It CAN rust in the metal fuel tank (mine did), that rust can cut the filter sock on the pickup and travel through the system blocking lines (did on mine), damaging pumps (Cut diaphragm), plunging filters (mine was twice). The alcohol is corrosive to the aluminum cast carburetor parts (had to find a donor carburetor for parts), watch our for fuel leaks in the fuel bowel (both bowels in my case 4BBL). And as long as the government substitutes it will be cheaper to buy. Remember you get what you pay for.. Cheaper is not always better.

I wish I have been on that website a few times but nothing around Austin. Unless someone has a tip.

Did you check surrounding towns/cities, (I live in Pearl, MS surrounding towns/cities for me would be Brandon, Flowood, and Jackson, MS all less than a 15 min. drive), also if you find one that does sell pure gas you can add it to the site.

The '06 F150 was the first year in the 5.4 to be E-85 capable. Even then there were 2 different options. E-85 and non E-85 -- Mine was E-85 and I didn't even know I could use ethanol for about the first 6 months. E-85 is easy to get in the corn states like Illinois. I would never run it in an old carburated engine with rubber gaskets and such, that would just be stupid. It will absorb any water in the tank. It is the same base ethanol you had at parties in college just denatured with gas to keep somebody from drinking it.
