I never changed the switch because I have given up on the power fold until I settle this matter with my dealer...and we are close to settling.

All the features that my regular mirrors had work on the tow mirrors.

I am going to take one of the tow mirrors off and try them on a Lariat this weekend that I am considering buying. The regular mirrors have all the options that I would like my tow mirrors to have and I expect they will work on the tow mirrors since the truck is programmed to work them.

Just to confirm the AD mirrors will work and have all the options working that your truck has now... You will only have to also change the harness if your only have the 8 pin. You may already have the 22 pin harness.
Pardon my ignorance - I'm still catching up on posts here. Did you need to reprogram the truck to get power fold functionality? To be more specific, is the programming required for button functionality, automatic folding in park, or both?

Are these for an XLT or Lariat? Your part numbers are different to those posted elsewhere in this thread. Are your harnesses fully populated, i.e., all 22 pins?

Thanks

The power fold is not working.. The truck will need to be programmed in order for any other option to function other than what the truck has from the factory.
Programming is the issue and not that straight forward. The dealer, my dealer, is not willing to do this.

There are independents that I am sure know how and can change programming. I have been in touch with one. I am talking this one step at a time.

I should have an answer from my dealer on a plan before the end of the week.

These numbers are for the XLT and are not fully populated. I posted pictures of the XLT harnesses and the drawings for the pins. You can see the power fold and extend pins are missing.

The other harnesses are Lariat harnesses and have a couple different connections for power lock memory and an extra connector likely for the ambient lighting. The dealer would not install the Lariat harness.

I bought my tow mirrors and I'm having a hard time getting them to fit. Has anyone else had trouble getting the tab to clear the square mounting hole without blocking the upper mounting screw? I got under it with a flashlight and it looks like I'm an eighth of an inch too low to clear the mounting holes, even with the tab all the way up/in.

FreeAirHead or anyone else with this info.

Do will the Lariat door harnesses connect with the dash harness on an XLT? Another words will the additional wires in the Lariat harness (power fold/extend) have anything to hook up to in the XLT dash harness??

Are the part numbers for the door modules for the XLT and Lariat the same? Does anyone have Lariat door module part numbers?

What's the specific part numbers for the XLT door harness left and right, and the Lariat harness, left and right?

I have the 8 pin connector and trying to decide if I should go with the XLT or Lariat harnesses, and even try to hook up the fold and extend.

driver side dg9z-14b291-vj
passenger side dg9z-14b291-vk
door wiring driver (22 pin) fl3z-14631-a
Passenger fl3z-14630-e

As far as it fitting to the rest of the harness, that is a good question. I hope so. I am planning on doing a platinum mirror conversion (minus cameras) on my xlt. The mirrors/harness and door modules (BCM modules) are all 22 pin.

XLT mirror number ---FL3z 17682 AC and FL3Z 17683 AC all Power mirrors/ heat/ lights/ signals/ with manual fold/extend
Lariat mirror number ---FL3Z 17682 AD and FL3Z 17683 AD all power with power fold/extend

Lariat door harnesses 22pin, FL3Z-14631-A and FL3Z-14630-E
XLT door harnesses 22pin, FL3Z-14631-F and FL3Z-14630-C

module part numbers--DG9Z 14B291 VJ and DG9Z 14B291 VK

mirror switch---- FL3Z 14529 CA power fold only
mirror switch---- FL3Z 14529 BA power fold and extend

spotlight switch----FL3Z 13D730 EA

spotlight module---FU5Z 13C788 A

dash vent trim which holds switch ford spotlight----FL3Z 1504339 DB

The programming will be the hard part...My dealer refuses to program the modules. Also, the lariat harness will have to be modified due to the power locks are a different connector. I have given up.

I would wait until someone has actually made this conversion work with power fold on an XLT before I spent this kind of money again.

With the XLT harnesses all power functions that came with my truck work on the AD series tow mirrors, but not power fold.

It's not plug and play by any unless you have a lariat then the tow mirror are plug and play. They even extend if you change the door switch on the lariat.

I went to my dealer today and received the following part numbers using VIN numbers:

XLT with non-tow: power mirrors, puddle lamps, led spot lamps, turn signals, heated, no blis
MODULE LH:dg9Z-14B291-VL
MODULE RH:dg9Z-14B291-VM
WIRING LH:FL3Z-14631-F
WIRING RH:FL3Z-14630-C

XLT non tow: with power mirrors, turn signals, no LED spots, no blis, heated
MODULE LH:dg9Z-14B291-VL
MODULE RH:dg9Z-14B291-VM
Have the 8 pin harnesses

LARIAT non tow(500a package) with power mirrors, turn signals, LED spots, puddles, no blis, heated: The lariat with 500a package is the only lariat with power fold that doesn't come with BLIS
MODULE LH:dg9Z-14B291-VL
MODULE RH:dg9Z-14B291-VM
WIRING- LH: FL3Z-14631-A
WIRING RH: FL3Z-14630-E

I believe that having BLIS is what changes the module to the VJ and the VK. When my dealer looked up the modules the only difference was having bliss or not. So In my thinking the modules that come in our trucks should work, but just need to be programmed for the different options, i.e puddle, led, power fold and extend.

Those who have bought the Lariat harnesses, do they connect to the dash harness without any issue? Is the dash harness possibly different on a lariat with the power fold/extend? Maybe that's why it isn't working?

I'd like to buy the Lariat harness, but is the lock button the only modification needed? If your dealer won't program the module's then of course it won't work. But is it just programming or is it a dash harness as well?

Has anyone figured out what each pin does? I only want a few specific features out of my tow mirrors. I have no problem wiring up my own harness if I know what each pin is for in the 22 plug.
