After months and months of dragging their feet Ford has finally approved my buyback or replacement on my truck. I'm getting a lot of conflicting information online, and I'd like to know what to expect when the representative calls me to give me the terms and conditions of the deal.
I know that there is a charge for mileage/depreciation if Ford buys back the vehicle. However, I'm getting a yes and a no from everywhere I've looked regarding whether or not there will be a mileage charge applied to my vehicle if I do a replacement.
I trust the people on here a little more than random sources other places, so can someone who has went through the process before give me a definitive yes or no as to rather Ford charges for mileage/depreciation whenever you are performing a vehicle replacement (MSRP for MSRP swap).
I went through this process in 1998 with a 1997 ford f350 cc 4x4. When it was said and done. Ford deducted I believe and (keep it mind its been awhile) 20 cents a mile for miles used up to the point the vehicle was presented to the dealer for the issue or issues. In my case it was about 4500 miles. They paid in full for after market products installed on the truck. I my case side steps bedliner camper shell window tint. So after all was said a done I came out about even regarding an msrp to msrp swap. The settlement paperwork you receive should spell it out for you. hope this help

Alright. Up to the first incident I can deal with. That was about 5k. Huge difference between 5k miles and 21k, as far as mileage reduction goes.
Check your state's lemon laws as it can vary When they bought back my 14 it was based on the NV laws so no deduction for mileage if I took a replacement, full MSRP allowance for the 14 and the replacement at MSRP.
Amazing what a little in-depth research can produce. Tennessee law was extremely difficult to decipher, but the BBB has a page to make sense of lemon laws for each state.
This was the answer I was hoping for.
FDVF, Im about to being the buyback/replacement of my truck. I am awaiting their call now after they decided to settle. How did the replacement process work for you? Dont know what way I want to go yet, since mine is a Lease also.

I couldn't begin to speak for how a lease would work. Once Ford customer service agreed to do the buyback I got a call about 5 days later from Ford RAV and the process was fairly simple. I picked a truck that I wanted, sent the window sticker for said truck into Ford, they sent me a packet to fill out the next day at the dealership I was working with, the dealership took care of everything else for me over the course of about 4 days and I walked out with the new truck after paying the difference and the taxes for registration.

so on the msrp to msrp swap, how did the taxes work? If I go replacement route, I have found a truck but its MSRP is about $600 above my previous. Just trying to figure if I need to include taxes on top of that $600

Yep. If the MSRP difference is $600 and taxes are say 5%, you'd need to shovel over $630 for the replacement.
Honestly, at a $600 difference I'd just "politely" mention the trouble you've been through and that the closest match you could find was $600 more and ask them to waive the $600 extra. My truck was $4500 extra and in the process of explaining to the lady that they shorted me $500 on my MSRP of my window sticker because Ford accidentally left the factory bed liner off, the lady actually ended up taking $2500 off of the total difference. Leaving me with only $2k out of pocket.
