Yes - just manually unlock the doors and start the truck.... just like the old days

Just found this thread, excellent, GlenV, you said you made 2 keys using the link you provided yet you say "According to the web link the key should work with 15 & 16 F150's."

You used these blanks, so do they work or dont they?? Does this key blank work?

Yes, GlenV did say they worked, i didnt take it in correctly what he had said. Thanks

Also wondering this - GlenV looks like you indicated above this key, just cut, will unlock and start the truck (no special chip in it that needs programming to start the truck?)?

Sadly my new to me 2015 only had 1 key/FOB (switchblade style) and so I need a spare but don't need the FOB/remote at this time. As long as it unlocks and starts the truck after being cut to match I'm fine with that.

Mine only came with 1 key also.
I just bought a switchblade key fob off ebay with a blank. Took it to the dealership, they cut it for $10. Then took it to a local key shop and they programmed the new key for $45. Now I just need to get a 3rd key and lock up my 2 admin keys.

one of my son's key from his 2016 inflicted a self imposed break, and in my area (Ontario Canada) I found a key guy who does the keys for $85.00 which is considerably less than the dealers. The new key looks and works as OEM. He does a lot of work for the local dealers, and has a great reputation. I would imagine every major city would have someone like that available.

So with only one key in your possession, you were able to have the dealer do the physical cutting of the key blade, and then another key shop was able to program the remote FOB with only having one original key to work off of? Good to know.

Thanks,

Just confirming - you guys were able to have the FOB locks/remote start/panic button/etc programmed by a third party locksmith and avoid the $125+ the dealer wants for programming one key?

I will add, just be careful on ebay. I bought one for my last vehicle and it "looked" to be right. I was not until a few months later when my wife went to use the remote start, did we realize it had the picture but not the button behind it. So just be sure to test 100% when you get it.

I have a decent size dealer in my area but the only place in town to get the blade type laser cut keys duplicated is Ace Hardware. I am not sure if they do it everywhere but they do here in northeast Arkansas. I checked with them and they said that they could not guarantee it for replacement unless you bought the blank from them but they would cut your provided blanks for $10 apiece. They said that most of the keys they cut work just fine but that it is a difficult process and there have been some that slipped in the machine and were not cut properly. As stated they will replace until it right if it is their blank.
