Yes that's exactly what I did, I have 4 keys now, 2 are put away.

I am going to call a local locksmith and see what he can do for me.
One quoted me at 120$ but asked that I call. Perhaps they dont know that I have only 1 key and one is missing...

I have the same problem with my new 2005 R50. It only came with one key. I found the blanks on ebay and they suggest that they are fully functional for the transponder and the remote, but neither of the two sellers have responded to confirm this so far. I'm following up with Locksmiths in Tamarac to see what they can do with either a full remote or remoteless options. But they made me new keys.Really commendable service.

As preventative I purchases two 128 bit high security transponder key blanks (no remote buttons) for my 2016 F150 XLT SuperCrew

Strattec blank # 5923293 for $17.00 each from this online store
http://www.clksupplies.com/products/...er-key-5923293

Took the to a local lock & key store who cut them for $15.00 each; So for $32.00 each I have spare keys. Loads cheaper than dealer pricing.

Following instructions in the owners manual with the 2 factory key fobs the new keys were matched to my truck and work perfectly.
Strongly suggest doing this before you lose one of the factory keys otherwise you're stuck having to get ripped by the dealer.

I just picked up a remote start keyfob off eBay to have a third / spare.... unfortunately it did not come with the uncut metal key so I'm trying to track down a source of the blank to get that done to have that as a backup as well....

Note that in a 2016 the programming sequence for the fob is a bit different - you DO need two originals, but instead of the 5 sec wait mentioned in a lot of sequences you need to only do 3-4 and swap keys quickly.... this is covered in another thread ( https://www.f150forum.com/f118/progr...5/#post4723314 ) but I figured I'd mentioned it here for folks that end up on this thread when searching...

According to the web link the key should work with 15 & 16 F150's.

There is no way I will pay them 189$ plus tax plus programming (which I am sure I can youtube) for an extra key if I can help it!

I was hoping the dealership would make me a deal since I do all my maintenance there. In case they dont does anyone have any idea where you can get a replacement? Ebay etc?

Tristan

I'd say $189 is a bargain. My dealer quoted me $279 today.

Just to clarify, this does everything the key is suppose to do the basics on it own: manually unlock the door and start the truck. Just no remote functions that you would get with the fob? That sounds like the way to go for a backup key. I could survive without the remote fob.
