Default Remote Start Question

I have a 2019 STX, just ordered the OEM remote start kit. My question is if I install it myself. Will it work right away or do I need to take my truck to a ford dealer to have it programmed? Is the programming just so I can make changes through the instrument panel. Like how long it runs for and the temp when I start the truck.

Enable remote start with Forscan (see the sticky thread)
Enable the options in the IPC with Forscan
Insert jumper
Plugin to gate way
Turn key to on and then off
Set options for alarm by pressing the brake pedal
Done

if you go to the settings menu in your truck do you see remote start?

i the same deal as my 16. you have to identify remote start with forscan.

but you will have to do the remote start dance after the truck is activated for it ie programming key fobs. page 14. 42.

hope it helps.

I don’t have forscan, I don’t want to screw anything up with settings. So I will take it to a dealer.

Hi,
I put a remote start in my 2014 xlt a few years ago, I took mine to the dealer to enable it in the obd2, I installed it and paired the keys myself. Bought it from fairway ford on ebay, that emailed me all the instructions, was easy to do.
I traded my 2014 for a 2019 xlt 302a package which has a remote start included.
Thanks,
Jerry

It’s not expensive about $30, it’s just powerful. Here’s a link to buy it on amazon.

i've done may forscan changes and every time i read the line over and over about 5 times before i commit the change and even then i once managed to mess up 1 digit .. luckily it wasn't anything crazy and i reversed it quickly and EVERYTIME i commit a change i cross my fingers and breathe a sigh of relief my truck still works and the change worked
