I've never had Built in Nav. I've had Magellan, trusted it, kept it updated on maps and user ware and used it until it became more practical to use my smartphone. I've used it once in the 11 day's I've had my '16 with Sync 3. I've attempted to use verbal instructions / directions while driving. Though the Sync 3 doesn't have a problem understanding me when I want to make a phone call or change radio stations, it can never understand what I am saying with Navigation. Any ideas on this problem?

I've never had a factory installed NAV before my '16 KR. I had a Magellan first (years ago) and it was okay. I've since had several different versions of the Garmin Nuvi units - I like them A LOT. One year I bought a couple Tom-Toms to give as presents at Christmas (Black Friday buys) - I had to figure them out so I could show how they are used - the best I can remember is it was a lot more awkward to use (more steps) than the Garmins. I also wonder why in the world the car companies don't just give that business to one of the NAV makers - it seems like my cousin's Jeep has Garmin from the factory.
One of my biggest complaints about the SYNC3 NAV is the complete lack of having a simple button to save your current location as a favorite - it has a "where am I button" but you can't save the info...why??? I live in a rural area where people don't really have street addresses and it's NICE to be able to save a current location (a friend's driveway) easily for future use - every Garmin I have owned has that simple ability. All you can do with the SYNC3 is WRITE THE COORDINATES DOWN THEN MANUALLY ENTER THEM BACK IN THE SYSTEM. Completely stupid! OMG!!!
Having vented...
I have a two week vacation starting next Monday and a 4,500 +/- road trip planned across 10 states and three of Canada's provinces. One of my best friends will be my copilot. This past weekend I put in a hard wire for my best Garmin on the passenger side of my truck for whoever is sitting over there to operate. The best part will be having the ability to make changes on the fly and not having to STOP. The points of interest are much more complete and addresses are a lot easier to enter on the Garmin too.
I wouldn't have bought the factory NAV if I'd had to pay extra for it - since it's part of the King Ranch package I'll use it when I can. Though recently I used it to get to a friends house in the north Dallas area - I already knew exactly where the house was but like to use the NAV to keep track of arrival time (if I'm running late or early) and it was off by about a mile on where the true address is located. The street and address have been there for years... My Garmin has it dead on.

My dealer couldn't find exactly what I was looking for so the closest I could get came with navigation. Reason for not wanting it was the $800 price tag and also I figured I would just use Car Play. Pretty impressed so far with the factory nav, hasn't led me astray yet and it looks good. First truck with built in nav so I can't compare it to any others but I'm glad I have it.

Its really a mixed bag on long trips.
A+ for accuracy and quick re-routing when you deviate from plan.
C for zoom levels; auto zoom good in theory but not great in practice ... loses too many map details at greater ranges of view
D for POI selection, inability to scroll POIs while in motion, inability to view POIs down the road, inability to update distance to POI while in motion.
F for not allowing me to save a current location. Big oversight.

I would say it is ok, not worth the price tag though. Maps in mine are not up to date at all. Roads not on there that I have been using for 4 + years. Not impressed at all about that. How and when will the map be updated? Oh that will probably cost me more........ Also had it totally crash on me while using it once. Good thing I knew somewhat where I was going as nothing would work. Maybe with update to Ver 2.0 of Sync 3 it will be better.
