Default Radio timeout...

Hey everyone...I have noticed recently that the accessory mode that normally stayed on for ten minutes after the engine was stopped (or until a door was opened) are now only remaining on for about a minute, actually exactly 60 seconds. I did not change any settings recently. I did update Sync about two months ago but I haven’t done anything since then. This issue started about three days ago.

Any thoughts on how to get the settings back to keep the accessories on for ten minutes again? Is there anything I’m missing? Did I inadvertently change a setting somehow?

Thanks in advance for any assistance given.

Likely your battery is a little low on charge and the load shedding is shutting it off earlier. If you have a charger, I suggest charging the battery for a while and see if that fixes it. Your battery may also be getting weak so it wouldn't hurt to get that checked.

When I got home, the accessories stayed on past the 60 seconds...in fact it lasted the full ten minutes. Made a liar out of me...lol.

So I checked the battery...reading 12.2 after shutdown (10 minutes of post- engine shutdown accessories), dropped to 11.6 during a start, and 14.4 while running. My “google research” tells me the battery and charging system are good.

Any thoughts? Just a glitch from earlier?

12.2 is low, put it on a charger with the ground connected to the frame. 12.2 is only 60% charged according to my chart.

Should be around 12.6v when fully charged and the surface charge is gone.

I just replaced the battery on my 2016 for the same thing as yours is doing. Mine started acting up 3 weeks ago couldn't figure out what was going on. Last week my truck set for 3 days it started fine, about 6 miles down the road sync would read going into battery saving mode and shut the radio off. Doing some research I had the battery checked and it was weak. Replaced battery all good.

If this battery needs replacing, it's not quite three years old...almost 36k miles. I kinda expected it to last longer than this.

With the heavy electrical load on newer vehicles they don't last as long. My 2016 made it just over 3 years

Purchase a decent battery and it should last more than 3 years.

Don't get the 3 year Duralast battery or it will last about 3 years.

Get one warrantied for 84 months. It will last longer than 3 years but won't like 7 years. But in 5 or so years you'll get to pay a prorated difference for another good battery.
I put one battery in my truck that I owned for 9 years (not this Ford truck). I believe I owned it 2 years before it went bad, but it was a used vehicle.

I had a brand new 1993, considered trading it for a lease about about 2 years of owning it. Battery died in the dealership parking lot.....service dude got in and it wouldn't start. Started no problem when I left home that evening.
