Sounds like you're still in warranty?

As I read through I thought the same thing as Bill. Warranty? I have never gone in for a battery but it's worth a check.

These are pretty inexpensive on amazon.com. These days with all the electronics and do-dads in our trucks, battery life can be an issue.

Thanks everyone for the pointers above.

So I took a chance and headed to the dealer about the battery. Lo and behold, they replaced the battery for me...with 223 miles to spare on the warranty!

A couple of observations on this issue:

Ford does replace batteries under warranty...my first time a battery hasn’t lasted at least 4 years. That’s a pretty good deal considering the cost of a comparable battery to replace.

I was surprised to see an AGM battery as factory equipment in the truck...from my experiences OEM rarely puts high end stuff like that as factory equipment.

AGM batteries tend to last a lot longer than the standard wet cell batteries. So why didn’t mine last longer? My build date was Aug ‘17...I’m assuming the battery was a little bit older than that. I live in Virginia, the climate isn’t too terribly hot to impact the life of the battery (maybe?). Maybe its not really high end (Ford OEM). I know the truck has a bit of a high electrical load, but the charging system and battery should be designed around that load, right?

Anyways, I will be closely monitoring the condition of the battery, charging system and electrical system to see if anything is going on that impacts the battery. I have a OBD II monitor that I can use to monitor vitals, so far I haven’t seen too much that indicates a problem ...we’ll see what happens.

Johnson Controls makes Diehard (Sears), Duralast (AutoZone), Interstate, Kirkland (Costco), Motorcraft (Ford), and some EverStarts

That's great to hear you got the replacement under warranty.
The advent of our start stop technology, along with lots of other electronics going on, may require the AGM that can take big discharge and fast charge. I am keeping an eye on my battery and so far so good. 1 year.

I think if you have the auto stop start the truck comes with an AGM
