Default Puddle Lights

So the car wash decided to bust up my passenger side mirror. I found some on marketplace and bought them, got them in today and they are some Amazon specials but have the puddle lights, power adjust (manual fold), heated. My stock mirrors didn't have the puddle lights but has everything else these have. The mirrors also came with the wire harness to adapt to my original plug, which is the 8 pin plug. I'd love to enable the puddle lights to work as factory. I have access to for scan. I have read up on this some but seem more confused now, lol, maybe because I have aftermarket non tow mirrors and it seems that all the posts I've seen are of people adding tow mirrors. Any help would be much appreciated!

You’ll need the switches and wiring to turn them off and on in the cab, to the left of the steering wheel, at a minimum.

I think the FORScan lines of code to change are under the BCM tab.

I'm pretty sure you are referring to the spot lights not the puddle lights...

So, are you saying the new mirrors have the 22 pin plug? You indicated your current wiring in the door is the 8 pin mirror connector and you have the 8 pin to 22 pin adapter. Assuming this is true, I don't think you can enable the puddle lights unless you upgrade the DDM (Drivers Door Module) and PDM (Passenger Door Module). Unless you have BLIS in an XLT (which you probably don't if you have the 8 pin mirror connector), I don't believe your current DDM/PDM will not support puddle lamps. But, you can upgrade the modules, and I think the easiest way would be to also upgrade the door wire harness. Then with FORScan you could configure the DDM/PDM to enable the puddle lamps and they will work as if they came that way from the factory. I installed tow mirrors on my 2016 XLT and I went the route of new DDM/PDM and door harnesses. If you do new door harnesses, the driver door lock button needs an adapter. There are a couple people (in the thread posted below) who will sell you one for a few dollars. As I recall, the door harnesses are about $140 each, and the DDM/PDM were approx. $60 each. You can find most all the information you'd need in the 1st post (by tmcolegr) of this thread: "How To" Add BLIS w/CTA to 2015 XLT 302A - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans Focus on the 2015-2016 SCREW Power Fold Mirror Retrofit PDF file in the 1st post. Maybe others have different ideas. Good Luck!

Thanks for the info, I was hoping it would be a little less of a job, maybe run a power wire and change a setting in forscan, but from what you are saying, this would be a pretty expensive upgrade

I'm sure there is a way to just add the necessary wires but one would have to study the electrical wiring diagrams, figure out what needs to be done, and then find the correct pins to add to the connectors. I don't have that information but someone else might. I agree, it sounds easy enough, but I did it the way it is done in the thread I referenced. I guess another option would be to find a Lariat or higher trim in a junk yard and get the DDM/PDM and door harness. Not sure what a junk yard would cost.

Hello, Saw your tread on puddle lights. I have an XLT and change from 8 to 22 pin. You just need to wire the door modules to the 22 pin. See attach file. Yes, you must remove the door to access the modules. I just took wire, trimmed both ends and insert into the appropriate slots. You then must change the modules. You can also hard wire with a toggle switch for the spot lights but for that you need power from you battery running the the 22 pin connector. It can be done without all the other items mention in your thread.

Hi Ryan
I cannot answer your question, but I have one for you. The amazon mirrors you bought with the puddle lights, does everything work as it should except the puddle lights?
