Default Planet Ford

Pro's and Con's of going with Planet Ford in Houston? Looking to buy but would fly from Idaho sight unseen.

Also are their prices "Planet Price" with all rebates applied?

Don't certain rebates have residency restrictions? You better make sure before you go...

Seem like good prices but not good enough to make me fly that far.
Have you tried searching with cars.com for trucks closer to you? They will let you search 500 miles out.

Has planet cleaned up their act. A few years ago they were really nasty to deal with.

Bought my first new vehicle from them 2 years ago. Worst experience ever. I would never go back. It was a 2014 f150 fx2

When shopping for my truck I stopped by Planet Ford, and it was a waste of my time. They were really not willing to work with me at all. I was not going to buy from their lot, and that did not go well with them. I wanted to order my truck, and I had the money ready, but they seemed to not be interested and I simply walked away. Autonation Katy and Tomball Ford were by far much better and got me into the price I was looking for.

I purchased a 2012 F150 Platinum and a 2015 Escape from them both brand new. I just purchased a new truck and I stopped by them first. They have changed though and their numbers were not realistic. On their website they list good numbers, but then they try to screw you on your trade. I ended up going to Autonation Gulf Freeway and I felt like I got a great deal. I had specific options that I wanted/did not want and they were trying to force me into a truck they had on their lot because they did not want to track a different one down. They kept cramming the truck down my throat to just take it home and they will try to find something else. I am not an idiot and I can see through their game, in the end I felt like they just wanted me to take that one home and fall in love and come sign the papers on that one. Needless to say, I do not see doing business with them again. Also I have had a few problems with their Service and Quicklane departments. Overall they have not left me with any "want" to ever go back, and I live across the street from them Haha.

Make sure you discuss any dealer add-ons not listed in their online price. It is very common here for dealers to add door guards, wheel locks, window etching, nitrogen in tires, etc. to every truck and not put that on their online price. Have the OTD price before ever stepping into the dealer.

It would be a shortly shorter drive home to Idaho but check out Holiday Ford in Whitesboro, TX - about an hour north of Dallas and right on the Oklahoma line. I bought a '16 King Ranch 4x4 from them in May and got a nice deal without any drama whatsoever - about $10K off sticker. My the internet salesman was a young fellow named Erik Faulls. He gave me an OUT THE DOOR price, they didn't try to sell me absolutely anything extra (extended warranty, tire warranty, etc.) while there picking up the truck - the truck was bone stock with no extra do-dads added on like pin stripping, window tint, etc. From the time I walked into their building until I walked out was 20 minutes at the most. The most painless process I've ever experienced - Erik and I did everything via text and email.

Good luck! (It's a LONG drive to Idaho! Make sure you're saving accordingly!)

This was very common at Planet Ford when I was walking around the lot looking at trucks. They were tacking on $400 for window tint. I questioned this saying that on the King Ranch's and Platinum's, they were only tinting the front two windows. They agreed with my statement and I followed up with; "so you are charging $400 to tint two windows and you are having it already applied to all of the vehicles so there is no way out?" I never received a straight answer but just be careful about these things. Yes I know things like this are negotiable, but it is still not a great practice to me.
