Does this chart show the payload ratings you guys are talking about, or is it for something else?

Sorry, that chart sucks. Here is where I got it, page 23.

yes/no... it technically shows the payload of a basemodel in the various engine/cab/drivetrain configurations. We're talking about actual payloads after all the options have been added/subtracted out.

so from what I understand the 15MY trucks essentially have the max town now. the only thing max tow gets you now is 3.55 Elocker and a HD bumper. My 13MY max tow payload is 166? lbs. so really not getting much more than what I have now. still good for a half ton I guess.

To give comparison, this truck is on par to a '14 max tow with similar options and is way more than a non max tow '14.

Its about the same payload wise but actually an improvement since the 2014 max tow were bottlenecked by the 4050lb rawr. the lighter truck should do better with available rear axle payload.

It just occurred to me that while 6.5 box adds cargo space it also adds whatever additional weight in materials thus reducing payload. I ordered a Lariat SCREW with 6.5 box. Would be kinda ironic if my bigger box actually carries less weight than the 5.5. Anyone have any numbers from 2014 6.5 vs 5.5 to compare?

Usually being longer wheelbase allows more weight before he front end gets light which is a factor in payload. My 6.5 bed on my 06 has always had more payloads than any 5.5ft beds.

Just compared a bunch of window stickers for similarly equipped Lariats where some were 145" wheelbase and some where 157". 145" were all listed at 7000 lb GVWR and 157"s were all 7050 lb GVWR. So the 6.5 box on a SCREW adds 50 lbs to GVWR.
