P0022 code
Well, here is a quick update. I took the truck in on the 17th and got it back last Friday. They changed the phaser in bank 2. Remember, I changed the solenoids prior to taking it in. So I took the truck down the road and it was even worse than before I took it in. I took it right back and they diagnosed it again and long story short, they replaced the solenoid, and the cam shaft position sensor. Picked it up today, and so far so good. So, if it continues to do well, big question is...do I get rid of it or keep it.
Hi, same problem here. After read all ur data I found this video that match with the problem. I had change de solenoid (but not the phasers) and the problem persist. Im gonna try changing the phasers now and chack if it works.

I am in Canada and have a 2016 F150 with the 5.0. For about 4 years now I have had the stall issue that was mentioned in this video. No constancy to it, would just randomly drop idle below 500rpm and choke or completely stall at stops/red lights. I have never had it not start right up again. It does have a low idle around the 600rpm mark. However, It has never thrown a code so the dealership has been at a loss. It FINALLY threw a code and it was the P0022. They gave me 2 options. One is the solenoid in bank 2 for $700cnd. That other is the full 10hr engine tear down, which they didn’t quote.
Now my truck has 287,000 km on it so after watching this and learning with that high of mileage the chain may be stretched as well, I’m going to put the $700 towards the full engine tear down.
Just very disappointed to learn that this is a well known problem with the 5.0 and the dealership has been scratching their heads over it with my truck for 4 years now. To the point they told me I must have ghosts. They also know I am a paramedic so were making light of the fact that I may have spirits attached to me. Ha.
2016 F-150 5.0 Lariat FX4 - Stalling issue, rough idle, hard transmission shifting, burning oil - (no visible smoke, low oil), P0022- All Resolved
-Did all oil changes at the dealer (prepay-ed when I bought truck) - total 11
-Had purchased extended warranty up to 80000 km
-Did oil every 8000 km @ dealer + -
-First time issue occurred was at 78500 km when RPM needle went down and then back up
-Taken it to the dealer and I was told everything was OK. - No codes
-At 81500 km engine code came up - P0022
-Went back to dealer and they basically said I'm on my own.
-Did some research and found out they were putting in 5w-20 Semi-synthetic oil instead of synthetic.
-Also found out I was getting low on oil
-Also found out that short trips are very bad for truck. Engine needs to warm up to operating temperature
-Bought my own oil (Castrol Edge Extended Performance) and filter (Mobile 1) for about $100 - each oil change (I started to change my own oil from this point on)
-At first truck performance got really, really, really bad - specially when truck warmed up. (after I switched to Synthetic oil)
-At this point I changed oil and filter every 1500 km to 2000 km + -
-It got better over time - It took approximately 13000 km and 7 oil changes for it to run with no issues. + -
-I was given estimate for replacing Cam Phasers and Vct - around $5500
-Also I unplugged the battery terminal (-) for 15 minutes to refresh the software.
I did some research and found out that oil from those large volume drums; is most likely recycled oil and it is not the same quality as anyone can buy from the store - in plastic cans. Also Motorcraft filter is only 80% effective @ 30 micron. If engine is dirty and you put synthetic oil inside, it will start to break down all the dirt that was left behind by semi-synthetic oil (recycled oil) and it may plug up your oil filter. Then filter goes in to bypass and lets all dirt enter Cam Phasers.
-My Owner's manual calls for Full Synthetic oil

I know I am late to the party but I have a 2019 F150 that is constantly throwing the P0022 code. I noticed that radio frequency interference is a potential cause of that code coming up. How would a radio frequency interruption cause that code to come up in a scan?
CMPs are Hall Effect type sensors. Strong RFI can generate false signals in the sensor, thus corrupting the information coming from the sensor. The ability of RFI to effect the sensor can be frequency dependant.
