Once again, 5w-20 oil + fuel dilution strikes!
Dealer says it’s a bad intake phaser bank 2. Being replaced under warranty but that is the only one they are fixing. This just leads me to think there are 3 others that can fail. I assume there are 4 phasers. Maybe I need an extended warranty or just trade it off for new truck. Who knows.

I m in the same situation, they replaced 2 on mine(same side), do I buy the extended warranty or dump the truck at 60k when the warranty expires. I don’t really have faith in the other 2 phasers, I think it’s only a matter of time before the other side fails! First and last Ford for me, I fell for the #1 truck marketing hype, should have stuck with the old Chevy 5.3 push rod, no stupid phasers or even the Hemi 5.7 push rod. Phasers = problems, bottom line

Just dealt with the warranty with my wife's Jeep, bad head. She was at 43000 but covered under 60,000.

SSM 48423 - 2015-2020 Various Vehicles - Illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) With Variable Cam Timing (VCT) DTCs - Diagnostic Information

Some 2015-2020 Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0011, P0012, P0014, P0015, P0016, P0017, P0018, P0019, P0021, P0022, P0024 and/or P0025. This may be due to small debris causing the VCT solenoid to stick. Before attempting any component diagnosis or replacement of the VCT solenoid, refer to Powertrain Control and Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) pinpoint test HK11 to cycle the affected VCT solenoid 10 times to attempt to clear the debris.

Well this sounds like something the dealership has to do, right?

I will be getting rid of mine I’m sure. Very disappointed in Ford right now. In the last 3 months I have had a left rear pano leak and this vct issue. I like my fords and have had 5 of them over the last 17 years, but this is getting ridiculous. The 2013 was the only one I did not have major issues with.

Well, here is a quick update. I took the truck in on the 17th and got it back last Friday. They changed the phaser in bank 2. Remember, I changed the solenoids prior to taking it in. So I took the truck down the road and it was even worse than before I took it in. I took it right back and they diagnosed it again and long story short, they replaced the solenoid, and the cam shaft position sensor. Picked it up today, and so far so good. So, if it continues to do well, big question is...do I get rid of it or keep it.

Depends on your warranty. I wife said she was no keeping hers past the 60K after Dealership work. She ended up getting rid at high 40's.
