Default Outside Temperature

Seems like such a trivial thing but..... I use CarPlay religiously, even for the shortest of trips. But there is a touch of OCD in me that needs to check the outside temperature far too often. Those of you that have read my first few sentences know what I'm talking about. Seems to me that either Ford or Apple could make a slight change so that my temperature could be displayed WITH CarPlay active!! At the very least make it one click to sync then one click return back to CarPlay where I left it.

The outside temp display is replaced by the manual method.

Lower the driver winder and stick our head out (but keep your eyes on the road).
Was it warmer or cooler than 5 minutes ago? If yes, it has warmed up or cooled off outside.

It's in the owners manual in section iiviivxxi, part c, page 1,481

You can do like I do and ask Siri whats the outside temp I thought Apple was going to add the temp feature in the last update but not yet.

LOL. I was fine with that method yesterday at 70 degrees but not so much now that is 10 degrees. And I just read section iiviivxxi that you referred to, interesting that there is no mention of opening the door to check the temperature. That's been intentionally omitted since 2015.

That's the solution I use when I don't mind interrupting my jams. I could also just look at my watch but of course it's displaying what's playing on iTunes instead.

Lawyers must have gotten involved and removed the language for safety reasons.

Sorry, I don't have an actual suggestion for you.

This same issue existed on the AA side of things. I've sent in feedback to google to have temperature added to the top of the display when in android auto. One day, the temperature appeared! Apple needs to do the same...

I just searched the forum for this yesterday after realizing the only display of OAT is buried on sync home screen. With all the info-crap they put right in the instrument panel i cant believe they couldnt find space for two tiny numbers to display OAT all the time, like next to the compass in the bottom right. I searched forscan methods too and we are sol.

Exactly. No such luck for iOs users when using CarPlay.
