nope, once you open one of the carplay apps it's gone. it should be on the instrument cluster visible at all times. esp for winter driving.

Sorry to hear that but that is on Apple since they are the developer of carplay. I am surprised they didn't address this in their latest update.

First part read above. About having the OAT on the IPC I guess that would work on the 8 inch cluster but not so much for the smaller ones, especially the 2 inch.

This is on Apple for not listening to their customers. Don't blame Ford. Google did listen and added it to their recent update of Android Auto.

I beleive the temp that AA displays is based off of a weather app. It is not very accurate compared to the actual air temp. AA always appears about 4-8 degrees off. I dont know why they cant add some code to grab the info from the truck.

it is absolutely on ford, any why should anyone have to buy an aftermarket temp gauge, added in as an afterthought, when the information is already on the can network? It is just not presented in a useful manner, it should be on the driver instrument panel, Not buried behind the media interface.

AA displaying temp off the phone app is pretty dumb too. If you are driving at night and climbing in elevation, say at a ski resort or mountain pass, it is pretty important to have somewhat accurate info about the OAT at the vehicle.

I think it's a Apple CarPay thing, not Ford. When you use CarPlay it takes over from Sync 3. Apple needs to include a weather widget on the screen where previous used apps are.

Now your just being a pain. I personally have never seen the temp in the gauge cluster. On the rearview mirror, somewhere in the center stack but almost all on the radio.
Ford has it on the their "radios" display. Carplay and Android Auto writes over that display and it is up to them (apple and android) to write code to query your trucks for its temp if they want, obviously they don't want to. Ford will not write code to inject info onto other programs and should not. That's what viruses do.

Android Auto has a weather widget built in and also displays the temp (from the widget I'm guessing) at the top of the screen.
I can see where in mountain areas where that temp can be way off at times due to altitude change but it's never more than 3 degrees off where I live and I can live with that.

no one is asking for "code injection" lol. Yes the mirror, or instrument panel would be an ideal place to have it displayed. Like, Toyota, Mercedes, Lexus, Porsche, Chevy ect. (those are just the ones ive seen)
it shouldn't be hidden. First world problems, gotta hit two buttons to display it. The compass is displayed in bottom right corner at all times, no reason why they couldnt stick the temp next to it. Unless they felt it would be nicer for the passenger to see as well in the center home screen... who knows.

The 2020 Explorer has the outside temp in the instrument cluster screen, so it still shows when apple CarPlay is active. It bugs me so much that my f150 isn’t the same way, I’m not sure why it’s not.
