Our Aluminum Beds are not sealed...And there's more...
My '03 Chev 3/4 ton was totally sealed except for 2 drain holes up front located where dust did not enter. I made my own tailgate gaskets/seal for a perfectly clean dry bed (with tonneau). At 186,000 miles there was zero rust in the bed (in Michigan - a salty road state). IMHO, It seems random cracks are an invite for dirt, salt, and eventually rust to get started. YMMV
I live on gravel. I have a spray in as well as a tonneau cover. Since I am a farm boy I guess I would fall into the "redneck" classification instead of the "metrosexual" side in this thread lol. Either way, my little brother just got a place and I filled the bed up with some stuff to take him. I was pretty dissapointed to see a little water on the stuff and a whole lot of gravel dust. I will be sealing it in the near future.
"sealed".

My ridgeline was always full of dust.
I put a nice thick carpet back there which effectively absorbed/blocked it.

I must say, it always annoys me when folks who don't know the answer to a posted question, then come back with a nasty retort, like "why the heck would you want to do that ANYHOWS?"
That said, I don't LIKE or AGREE with everything I see on this site; like guys who think floor mats are a "mod" or all the nuts who ruin their trucks with those ridiculous lift kits . . . But I think it's interesting to see what everyone's up to. If I don't LIKE it, I just click on . . .
As for the dust, I'm gonna put a run in my bed to block/absorb dust. Also keeps stuff from moving around and protects from scratches.

I have found that with the spray in liner it's a lot harder to wash out the bed than in my pass trucks with no liners..
