I took the OP real question to be should he wait for the 2017, are their release eminent. That is why I told him Sept. Even if he orders on 7/18, production starts on 9/13. He probably wouldn't see his 2017 until the end of Sept at the earliest.

So he is look at 4 months minimum.

I'm usually opposed to buying a new body style, or in this case, a major driveline change.

Exactly and it could be even longer if he orders the 10 speed and the 10 speed becomes late availability. The OP can put in an order but that doesn't mean he will be so close to getting it.
